From what I have been told, it is illegal if you take more then three steps, but three or under is legal.

In the last IKF fight I was in, it was only legal to take one step before striking, but you didn't have to let go, as long as you kept hitting you could walk. That was last August, and how I understood the rules meeting discussion.

Events Ive seen have been no more then 3 steps. The reason I was given was because the fighter would sometimes fall out of the ring when being pushed. Dont know if thats the actual reason.

I hear that ploughing carries a penalty of 5 years imprisonment or a fine or both!

It is now illegal. Depending on what organization you fight for, it is either 1 step or 3 steps.

One of the deciding factors in why "the plow" is now illegal was a famous fight between Den Muangsurin and Rainbow Pratalay. Ugly accident.....

plowing is illegal unless you strike while plowing. You're allowed to take 3 steps then you have to strike or let go. Reason being is fighters used to throw people over the ropes and they would get knocked out / injured, so they stopped that.

*or so i've been told*

that's also what I've heard, but I think it changes based on the orginization's rules...like I've also heard that some groups won't allow you to catch a kick and slam the supporting leg. (it might just be front kicks, teaps, and sidekicks....I'm not too sure.)

I'm pretty sure, however, that old techniques like "breaking the elephant's tusk" and other attacks with the knee and elbow to a caught leg are illegal these days.
