He took advantage of his higher skill and the situation to enjoy his sadism.

I saw him move in and prevent your attacks with his weight and big bones to kick and deliberately injure you.

He out weighed you at least 50 pounds. His bones were twice as big as yours.

Sifu Terry Gibson R.I.P. A superb instructor and gentleman, loved and respected by all who knew him.

This is Master Chai's Instructor Test, not figure skating. One of the mantras of the test is to overwhelm the candidate physically so it becomes a matter of heart and soul. Everyone who steps up to do this test knows that, its not supposed to be "fair", its supposed to be hell.

I have seen other people test with holders who were just as aggressive if not more so than the late Mr Gibson, they are just doing their job. And pass or fail, everyone walks off the mat as friends, and brothers.

If that isn't your thing, or you don't understand it, then OK. But don't throw offensive insults around about a man you know nothing about, and one who I'm sure Mr Mousel respected greatly.

Cool Muay Thai is a test ... that is the best way to look at it. ;-)

The is a true motivation behind Muay Thai, many are in it to show off, to win, to prove something but very few know it is to build one's Heart- to train your Heart to relax and to see how deep/ tough your own Heart is. From this perspective, your trainer, your fellow sparring partners and your fight opponent is just a Tool to train your own Heart.

That is awesome docthai, I would agree that the toughest opponent is myself, and if I can conquer that, the outer results will be favorable no matter the outcome, win or lose.

There are of course many ways to train your heart,Thai people and therefore Muay Thai in Thailand is steeped in Teravada Budhismn, the Thai boxers understand this and fight from a heart of compasion, this is something we in the west could learn a great deal from imho.

Test rules can be viewed here: http://www.thaiboxing.com/test_guidelines.php

At the time of my test which was in 1990, holders did not wear shin pads and there was no headgear. The requirement was 60 kicks and 40 knees per 3 minute round.

The holder for my first round was Mike Parker and the second round holder was Terry Gibson.

The test was held at an international martial arts camp in Wisconsin promoted by Pete Hetricks. Guro Dan Inosanto, Larry Hartsell, Paul DeThouars, Burt Poe and Ajarn Chai all taught.

Four people took their test that day...my good friend and training partner Dean Lessei, Dave Leitch, John Fehling and myself. Greg Nelson, Burt Richardson and a few other guys were holders. The only person to pass that day was Dave. Dean retook his second test with me in Atlanta and passed and I'm not sure what John did.

On to the fun...

merci beaucoup
