This guy named Jaa Panom Yeerum, the charactor of Tom Yum Kung movie, the MT arts that he performed, I can tell that is absolutely Muay Thai. But it looks strange becuase this is the REAL Muay Thai. I mean the thing that Thai soldier in ancient times were trained to use it when fight with opponent. These thechniques still exist but rarely used, even now in competition in my country (Thailand). because they are very dangerous and deadly. You can see each technique he used intend to attack the weakest pint on the body and to stop opponent. There is no need to use these techniques in competiton becuase it's too dangerous (even you can) and all we need from copetition is only to win, not to kill any body.
isukgrar Note: some of technique may be adapted for perform in the movie, but mostly, yes, it's Muay Thai |

Are you guys talking about Muay Boran? Or do you mean Krabi Krabong, it's an old version of MT...sort of. Plus weapons etc.
Anyway, I'm interested, what style are you refering to? "that old one" is a bit vauge. |

With the exception of the aerial techniques, and 2 old style techniques I was taught at the Buddhai Sawan, everything done on this was shown to me years ago as muay Thai by Ajarn Chai. It all has descended from krabi-krabong anyway, so everything else is just nitpicking. After all, the swords are your elbows, the staff is your kicks. From what I have seen, all of the muay Thai associations currently extant are principle-based. The real fun is when your teacher shows you something and you realize you should have thought of it yourself because he has taught you the underlying movement, and when you realize that quite possibly if the emotional and physical content were there you could have thought of it, and hopefully would have. If that pisses you all off but somehow satisfies you at the same time, I have upheld my certifications...
