![]() | http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jQpXqG2fpP0 In the course of these 2 movies it seems like jaa has really risen to the ranks of other martial arts superstars like jackie & jet li, but I think his cheoreography really has alot of subtle homages to them as well as people like Bruce Lee. I think another interesting thing about jaas cheoreography is that he can actually perform alot of the fights from ong bak as live performances, sometimes you have to wonder if they are actually hitting eachother. |

![]() | Tony Jaa actualy speaks in length about how he has alot of subtle homages too bruce & jackie in his work, while you're right bruce would no emphasize the kind of over the top maneuvers jaa performs, jaa really has his work cut out for him there. He is an entertainer though and he also agrees that these maneuvers would probably not benefit you in a real fighting situation. |

![]() | Yes i'm aware the movie was originally called tom yum goong, but I definitely won't spoil it by watching it in such low quality on youtube, not to mention if they did that they'd have to break the movie up in 10 minute segments! Ack... BTW, on the subject of youtube, you can find alot of cool tony jaa stuff there http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_PMF8ODhxcc |

![]() | Just saw it myself, this movie is definitely something to behold on the big screen I'm so glad it didn't get a limited release like ong bak. There were a few moments in the film that just made want to catch my breath haha literally the fight scenes were insane and seeing them on the big screen was really cool. btw here is an interesting contest related to the movie, "take on jaa", if you have any good fights or stunts or whatever they want to see them. at http://www.theprotectormovie.com/ |

![]() ![]() | I have a question: Just saw The Protector, and in the last big fight I thought I saw a lot of Silat stuff. Does MT have that stuff too and I just don't know it yet under MT, or are they mixing arts for the movie? Not bashing! Awesome movie, just curious. |

There is some information about the style used in The Protector ,in Tony jaa's unofficial fan website www.tonyjaa.org "The name of the style is Muay Khod Cha Sarn or elephant boxing. This form was reserved for the best thai warriors back in the day and only passed onto blood relatives. Those are the Jaturongkabat warriors who protected the king's elephant feet. These guys were among the best as you can see from movie "Khun Siek". Since they have to be pretty quick and precise in what they do to be able to follow the king and guard the elephant feet. They must executed the brutal technics to kill the enemy upon contact quickly and move on and so that's why "Throw, Stamp on, Grap, Break" are the main technics in which they concentrated and based on. Since there is no need for the Jaturongkabaht guys any more in the modern warfare, the Art itself are almost disappeared but Thanks to Tony Jaa to bring it alive on the big screen for the world to know" You can check out these links. http://www.fightingarts.com/ubbthrea...0/fpart/1/vc/1 http://www.tonyjaa.org/forum/index.p...lephant+boxing http://www.tonyjaa.org/forum/index.p...lephant+boxing thanks | |
