Default NYC gym?

Hi, I'm hoping those in the NYC are can help me out here.

Does anyone train at the Wat or Five Points Fitness? If so, for how long, and what do you think of your particular school?

Thanks in advance.

I've not trained at either gym, but I know the instructors at both gyms and have seen their teams compete on numerous occassions. Both are class organizations with great MuayThai programs. I think your best bet would be to see if you can take a free trial class or two at each gym and see which one suits your tastes best....

(...or has the best price or schedule to suit you)

Default Ultimate Muay Thai

I recommend Ultimate Muay Thai, i trained with Coban when i visited New York a few years ago but i believe he has moved up state somewhere rural. I did stop in at Ultimate Muay Thai to have a look and at that time they had a trainer from Lukbanyai which is a famous gym in Thailand. Definately worth checking it out.

Ultimate Gym does not have a very good reputation. They actually have serious talent in their coaching staff, but I hear they aren't very "people-oriented".... (I'm being kind)

Mind you, this is heresay, but I've heard this a LOT!!!!

AHem...GSP trained with Kru Phil Nurse at the Wat to prepare for his win over Matt Hughes. Doesn't that say something? :P

A training partner of mine used to train at the Wat, and had nothing but good things to say.

I trained at 5 Points, and I enjoyed that place as well. Excellent facilities, hours, and availability. They also have kali, which was a real new experience for me.

I hear the Wat is a bit more "hardcore" or intense though...the conditioning there seems to be more brutal at least.

I've been training at the Wat for about a year and a half, and I recommend it highly. Call the gym for free class and see for yourself.

I can't comment on 5 Points... I've never been there.

hmm I also don't know which gym i should join.

I would really join "The Wat" cause i've heard and saw so much good about it. But the problem is that the don't have any "dumb bells" or weights... cause i wanna workout 2 times a week...

... does anybody know, if the WAT now got some "dumb bells"? I think a good muay thai fighter should also workout 3 times a week.
