Fist Ripped/Cut/Sore Hands

Everytime I do pad work I end up having sore knuckles/fingers. I know I'm throwing my punches correctly, I've asked the instructor multiple times. Although, my knuckles and what ever the bone is between the knuckles and fingertips are all ripped and torn up today. I mean like.... Seriously. Maybe it's because my gloves suck, I use these generic gloves that are kinda like.... non cushioning. Then again I don't do well in the cold weather either, my hands dry up but still, that doesn't explain why my knuckles and fingers get sore while I punch. Can anyone fill in the blanks or offer some like.... advice?

It depends have you been training seriously ? It has to do something With your gloves too ,but how about your strapping ;I mean has your instructor helped you wih your hand wrapping ? You are not supposed to end up hurt after a pad drill if not, there a few things that you most correct. Come on!

Odd. I only end up with torn knuckles if I do pad/bag work bare fist. I've got no clue, really peculiar

I don't wrap my hands, only time I do that is if my knuckles or hands felt weird that day or for some reason I get the feeling that I might injure my knuckles.

Sounds like your punching power is better than your psychic power. You probably need new gloves, and you should wrap your hands every time.

it seems that you´re kind of lazy for wrapping your hands , if you knew how to punch , but you don´t .

You should wrap...if nothing else it'll keep your gloves from stinking up that much longer...

I'm new to the board, but have some experience with this.

First wrap your hands and do everything else right.
Use bag balm. Wash with a mild Soap. It all sounds a bit girly, but it matters.

Then if this problem persists it could be a symptom of a hypothyroid condition.
Do you have weight control issues? I know every fat girl at the dance says it's glandular, but sometimes it is. If you're eating right, training right, and taking care of your hands properly, but you still gain weight and your hands are bleeding, get a comprehensive metabolic panel done.

I'm not a docotor and don't claim to be, but I've been through this. I'm also not trying to make excuses for you, and was just taking a stab at the weight thing. But if you've been doing the right work and the results aren't coming, check it out.

As for the wrist wraps, I'm just lazy because when I wash them they get all wrinkled and it takes me like 9 years to fold them them flat while wrapping. (I wash them in a mesh bag so they don't tangle my clothing, another person in my class told me I should soak them in soapy water then let them dry out over time so they don't wrinkle.)

I don't remember saying anything about weight in my post though... But yeah, I don't have any weight problems if anything I have a fast metabolism. I can eat as much as I want with no exorcise and not put on a pound.

IT means that you should wrap your hands every time you are training, with clean wristwraps , how much time do you spend on bag training or pad , that its making you think that you don`t need hand wrapping .Get serious ! and yes , your gloves will get stinky if you don`t take care of them .Learn how to roll your wist wraps, It is not that hard.

And get some real gloves for training man! Talk to your instructor , he is supposed to have some experience and caring , if not , get some other instructor .Or learn with some box instructor how to properly wrap your hands.

hello,

greetings to slaya . it sounds like a combination of two things. skin thickness (or lack of it) around the knuckles and the quality of gloves.

you mention cold weather. your knuckles crack a bit when it gets really cold, don't they? you could try handwrapps just to cushion the knuckles, or get some better bag gloves.

good luck to you.

thanks.
