Default Muay Thai gyms in Atlanta, GA

Hello, all. Aaska here.

Can some give me a list of *genuine* Muay Thai gyms located in Atlanta, GA? (or somewhere close to Atlanta)

Your help'd be greatly appreicated.

Aaska

I have some friends that train at Knuckle Up and Alliance in Atlanta; both have Muay Thai programs. I don't know where you'd find a comprehensive list but those are def. a place to start looking. What part of town are you in?

Oh, I forgot. How about in Duluth, GA? Or some place very close to Duluth?

Thanx again.

I'm not sure the exact locations of either gym, but the 2 best gyms in the Atlanta vicinity (that I'm personally aware of, that is) are "Knuckle Up" and "Megaladon"

Go to the TBA website, schools section, click on the state of Georgia and find who is near you. For other associations, obviously you should go to their homepage and ask them.

Knuckle Up and Alliance are probably the two heavy hitters here in Atlanta.

You can also go to Francis Fongs's Academy in Roswell. He is actually hosting Arjan Chai the first weekend in May for a seminar.

I am sure there may be other gyms but those three are your best bet.

The most genuine Muay Thai in Atlanta is at Bangkok Boxing. The head instructor/owner, Khunpon, left Knuckleup a while ago. Now Khunpon's the only trainer/fighter from Thailand with a gym in the southeast.

There are some youtube vids of Khunpon fighting both in the US and back home in Thailand out there. There are also some vids of Khunpon's classes too. I'm pretty sure their all up on his gym's youtube channel.

The next best is Manu at Alliance. Only problem is you gotta go through alliance to train with him, and they're kind of bastards. (They tried to hustle a friend of mine into signing a contract while he was watching the class under the pretense that it was a waiver he needed to sign before jumping in to try it out.)

Francis Fong is really good, but its kind of weird. They seem really traditional but they teach their class in a more westernized way with a ranking system and more static drills instead of moving with footwork while offense/defense. And when I last visited them they did no sparring whatsoever, not even light and controlled sparring.

Oh yea if you want to check out khunpon's gym his site is KHUNPON: Atlanta's Muay Thai legend teaching Bangkok Boxing. There might be more info on there too.
