Default Muay Thai Contender

A new Contender series filmed in Thailand about Muay Thai will be released lat this year or early next year. When we took our team to Thailand to fight on the King's Cup Event in December last year we met some of the guys that will be on the show. This is great for Muay Thai and I hear it may be shown on Spike TV. If you would like to see a trailer for the show go to www.GOKICKIT.com and click on the "In the news" link there is a direct link to it there. Check it out looks good! Also, I hear one of the guys on the show came up through Khun Kru Bob Carvers academy in Canada a TBA school! Awesome! Hope this is very successful and popular and grows the Muay Thai audience further!

Yes, Alain Sylvestre was a student of ours. He is a very hard worker with tons of heart. Glad he got the opportunity.

I'm really happy for Alain, he's come a long way since he got here and he's an excellent fighter and trains harder than anyone I know, he deserves this.

Default Contender Muay Thai

Hey guys,

Just stumbled across a few articles about this show that they are doing but apparently they arent airing it in the states? I believe I read just Europe and Asia? I heard they may put the episodes on YouTube...any idea on when this is supposed to start showing and hopefully we can catch it on youtube.

hello,

ok. here's the thing. it appears that it will air everywhere, it is just not clear what networks are picking it up.

they will begin filming later this year. it is easy to say it will be aired in thailand, as that is where they will be. it is also easier to say it will air in europe, as there are several networks that already show this sport. it is pretty popular over there (much more so than america). in latin america, they have already voiced interest in the show going there, and there are far fewer networks, so that part of the decision making process is more clear cut than america.

as far as american coverage, it becomes really complex. spike has dropped the ufc, so zuffa is hunting for a network. the ifl is proving popular on "mynetwork" (ch.13 in losangeles). ufc, pride, wec and all the others are jockeying for position here, so from the standpoint of the contender producers... it is not possible to guess at this point.

suffice to say, on one channel or another it will be here on a regular channel (you won't have to pay extra to get it).

this situation may explain speculation of airing it on youtube. this could be looked upon as a last resort sort of thing.... "well, if none of the networks will carry it... we can get it out there on youtube!"

thanks.
