KILLSHOT TOURNAMENT RULES

UNARMED COMBAT SPARRRING

The Killshot tournament is judged on fighting ability not points. Each fight is semi-contact with light contact strikes to the head. A demonstration video or presentation will be displayed on the day to define semi-contact to all competitors. Fighters can go to ground for a max of 1 min. Fighters can also use take downs. A no blood rule will also be in place.

Each fight will have 2 x 2min continuos rounds on a matted area of 4m x 4m. There will be one centre referee and two out side judges. The fight can be won by submission or killshot. For example if a competitor mounts his opponent and strikes a volley of punches to the head the whistle is blown and the fight starts again according to the clock. If a opponent is being choked and taps out the fight is given to the choker.

All competitors are to have the following protective equipment, which must provide adequate protection of the knuckles and shins. Hand protectors, Shin & Instep Protectors, head Guard (will be available on loan for the day), Mouth Guard, groin guard.

The following techniques and manoeuvres are banned. Biting, Eye Gouges, Throat punches, elbows, throws.

Participants may use hand strikes, leg strikes, locks, holds, take downs, pinches, chokes, head grabs, hair pulls. Participants may target any area on the body they wish except those noted in the banned list.

All bouts will be matched upon skill, weight and height. There will be 2 divisions in both male and female. Teenage 16-18 and Adult 18+. Referees and judges decision is final.

KNIFE FIGHTING

Knife fighting will be under killshot rules. Only Boker Rubber knives will be suitable for the knife fighting division. Knife fighting follows the same rules as the Unarmed Combat except there are no eye stabs. So a competitor may blend their unarmed fighting skills with their knife fighting skills.

Killshot Knife Fighting is based on a realistic approach to knife fighting. If an opponent is struck in the chest with a stab the whistle is blown and that round is given to the attacker that stabbed to the chest because he performed a killshot. In essence if it had of been a real situation he would be dead. There are 2 x 2min rounds but if a competitor loses 3 times by killshot the fight is given to the other competitor.

If a limb is struck in killshot the whistle is blown and a weight is put on the persons arm to simulate blood loss. If the competitor is holding the knife in that hand he must change to the other hand. If the other hand is struck the competitor must fight on unarmed. This also applies to strikes to the legs.

All knife fighters must wear eye protection as well as the other protection stated in the unarmed combat division.

COMBAT DEMONSTRATIONS

Combat demonstrations must consist of combat scenarios with more than one person.

Demonstrations can be armed or unarmed. Multiple attacker demonstrations are fine too. Any weapons used must be legal in the State or the person using them must possess an exemption or license. A copy of the exemption or license must be brought on the day.

Judging will be on the effectiveness and technique presented.
