Hi,
I am new here, Anyway I have trained with 3 different Muay Thai Clubs in Australia since 1992. Of late i havent trained as much due to work commitments how-ever every chance i am am training. I am wondering if there is any else here from Australia with in these forums. I can see the bulk of you all are overseas / abroad, non the less i find all your information, discussions etc very informative and like what i read. I wouldnt mind chatting to some other Aussies here too. Anyway Maybe this could be a start of an Australian Community ! Cheers d0mayn |

Well, I'm from the States, but I've considered moving to Australia in the next 10-12 years (for stunt work). Does that count? How do you like Australia? Is it nice there? Would you recommend New Zealand?

Well Yes Australia is a great country to live and work in. I dare say you would be looking at heading either the Sydney or South eastern Queensland seeing you want stunt work. I say come out for a vocation first and while you are here do some research. there are some great Muay Thai and from what i hear 2 maybe 3 trainers that train in Muay Boran . if you are interested in more about Oz PM me and i'll gibe you so pointers as to where and what to look for. Is it just stunt work you are doing or do you have another occupation ?

Little Apple if you get in contact with Movie world on the Gold coast, Queensland Australia they will be able to help to point you in the right direction for Stunt work. Even try some casting agencies through out Australia goto http://yellowpages.com.au and use the search engine there. Try Sydney NSW (the post code there is 2000) first as thats the biggest city in Australia then try melbourne, Victoria then Brisbane, Queensland.
I'll ask a few people i know where the best place to start looking is. |

Lol! I actually read that PM before I got around to checking this thread, but to re-cap: That's really nice of you! Thanks! Yeah, I'm a cosmetics counter-manager and make-up artist for smashbox cosmetics here. It's all part of my master plan. I'm in Portland, Oregon right now, broadening my MA stiles. If I haven't been able to get into the film union while I'm doing all this, then in a couple years I'll move to LA and get on set in make-up. Thereby getting the opportunity to hand my resume to stunt coordinators at the snack table.
Once I get into stunts, I'd like to start doing international films, and gradually move my base to Australia or New Zealand. The up shot is that I want to buy a chunk of land, or maybe an island, and open a giant academy of everything. I think the university system is broken, so I want to provide a big facility where people can come to learn about math, science, history, humanities, etc, as well as keep their body in shape with MA, dance, gymnastics, swimming, lifting, etc. There would be a wing where doctors and physical therapists and chiropractors and nutritionists would treat people together, and they would get to see the kind of results that their counter-parts could get, and learn how to put all those disciplines together. And a big open temple, with a library on the next floor, and then rooms where monks and nuns and swamis could live. It works out in my head.
