Default I want to learn a form of Ram Muay...

but I don't think my teacher teaches it. Is there any way I can learn without my teacher's help?

Thank you.

why would you want to learn it, like for the sake of it?
you will need someone to show you or you wont get the little bits right.

ok, youll really need someone to show you, might be worth having a look on youtube, but you need someone who knows it to be able to watch you and tell you where you are going wrong. its not actually that hard, i learnt the basic version in about 30 mins.

Maybe your teacher doesn't teach thai boxing/culture. In any case, RM is more popular today than long ago. Mostly like to due to nationalism/tourism....not so much the spiritual. Thai boxers are trained to fight.

^^ yeah, thais are buddist. you wont find much spirituality in thai boxing there is some but no one makes a deal out of it.
its usually westerners that look for this.

Yeah, I highly doubt my teacher teaches Thai culture or anything of the sort...But I'll still inquire about it. I appreciate the info guys. I'm "buddhist," although I don't like to abide by that label; but I think RM could benefit my practice.

Thank you!

Ram Muay is less popular in Thailand today(with the boxers) than in years gone bye, however its my belief that people teaching Muay Thai should understand and teach the culteral aspects,if your teacher doesnt teach or have a interest in thesr areas i would strongly advise you to find a teacher that does.
