![]() | Am I cheating myself here or, will the mitt/pad training give me the same conditioning as the bag? The mitt/pad work certain feels more productive, but I'm not sure about the conditioning aspect. The obvious answer is to do both, but I'm not always able to work out at home where my bag is, as I meet halfway at a park to do drills with my buddy. I still do my jump rope and shadow boxing rounds before we do mitts of course, and we typically do road work (2x week long jog, 2x sprints or suicides) after the workout. |

![]() ![]() ![]() | Depends on how good your pad holder is able to work you,as you said though a combination of both would be ideal, pads are for reflex timing and technique, the bag for power(heavy bag). |

![]() | i agree on doing both to be honest, focus mitts are great for technique and for precision but the heavy bags are good for conditioning and power...personally i would try and meet halfway between them both. |

![]() | Like you said, do both and more, always vary your workouts. That way you wont get bored and shall constantly keep you on your toes.

| Registered User | i'd allways do both. Mitts are good for developing good hand eye cordination and speed drill and heavy bag is good on developing your punches and developing power. When your getting ready for competition, you'll probably be running 12 or more rounds, 3 minutes long with a 30 second break in between. I'm hoping to be publishing my second book by the end of August and it'll cover mitt work, medicine ball and heavy bag.
