This is just some local news maybe of interest to muay thai people.A MT fighter was sentenced to 3 years in prison for coming to aid of a woman being raped.Both the woman and MT guy were street vendors in sanam Luang.
The woman was sleeping and this guy tried to rape her.She screamed and guy came to help.There was a fight and the vendor used some muay Thai kicks to rapist head and knocked him out.The woman also grabbed a knife and cut the guy in the face.The rapist died,reportedly from the MT kicks.Guy got 3 years in prison for this.3 years in Thai prison is a real long time.Woman got a year for cutting the guy,plus 100 baht fine,about 3 dollars in American money,for carrying the knife.

Wow rough justice for trying to help someone!.

I thought this kind of crap, where the criminals are treated as the victims, was limited to western countries.

he justice system here is very arbitrary.There are many cases where influential or well connected people have killed people and nothing happened much at all to them.But this poor guy was just a poor street vendor so he goes away.There are also other cases where good samaritans like this guy did the same thing as he did and had no problem.Hard to figure.

It is possible to send food or money for account for inmates.Family members and also charity organizations do this.I will try to find out more about this.

I think it should be mentioned that the attacker was apparently very drunk, and that when the two left the attacker he was still alive but bleeding heavily.
The two also had their sentences reduced by half.

I guess that the cutting of the face was the bit that took it from self-defense to murder?
or perhaps
"The officers found Aswin had earlier been jailed for three years for throwing an imitation grenade at Bangkok Metropolitan Administration inspectors, or thetsakit, behind the Criminal Court."

Yes apparently this is true.The cutting was done by the woman,though,not the guy.Cause of death was ruled to be kick to the head.regardless who did what,I think rapist got what he deserved.
