![]() | and which I mentioned in previous posting. The star of the show is an expert in stickfighting and uses a stick abouth 30 inches long and is diamond shaped instead of round, and thicker at one end.I never saw this kind of stick or many of the techniques they use in the show.I don't think this stick would be good for sparring as the edges would creat lacerations, and the stick looks like cocobolo or some hardwood like police baton.I was wondering about this and though this is not a question about muay thai,it is about Thai martial arts so I thought maybe somebody out there knows about this.Thank you. |

![]() ![]() | Hi, I checked with Ajarn Vincent Giordano and he sent back an answer on your question: "I would like to check out the series. This is an older technique based on the old frame combative krabi krabong. It was used alot with the older generation masters about 70 years ago. The name is Kom Fag, kom means sharp and is made from a very special hardwood. It uses the techniques of the sword singly or in pairs(as we see in filipino ma with the use of the interchangeable sword and stick) but with special application. It was used for combative purposes and is very functional in its useage, we saw a decline in its action and useage when the shift toward physical education over road the older forms of krabi krabong and this is one example. My teachers father had several and actually learned how to use it." If you need more info probably shoot vincent an email at blackdiamondcobra@yahoo.com Sounds pretty cool. I would like to see this in action myself. |

![]() | Thank you very much George.I thought you would know answer to this. The show is better than most Thai shows I have seen but still very far fetched.About this guy named Khan who is the hero and uses the kom faq sticks(thanks for telling me how to spell this) to fight this gangster and his thugs, one of whom is played by the famous boxer Khaosai Galaxy. The fight scenes are often totally fake but the training sequences are good and also there are several shots of stickfighting techniques which look like they came from an authentic manual. |
