| Resident Groaner | id go to a gym in bangkok. this isnt what youd call a proper thai gym. this kind of gym exists in the uk and usa and to be honest the ones in the uk and usa are better imo. nothing wrong with it as such, its just if you are going to thailand, i dont see the point in going there when you could go to a proper thai gym. saying that, i havent been to it, for the above reasons, everyone that i know that has been loved it, but then they have never been anywhere else to compare it to, so thts kind of useless too.

![]() | Ghost, Thanks for replying. I have a couple of questions for you. 1) What qualifies a gym as a "proper thai gym" in your opinion? 2) If you have never been there, how do you know it doesn't meet the criteria (I am asking this without knowing what actually makes it proper) 3) What were the positives and negatives from the people who you know that went? 4) What gyms have you been to in Thailand that you would recommend? Thanks again. Dan

| Resident Groaner | Hi, ok i was going to answer every point individually, but i have another idea. The top stadiums are in bangkok, this is where the best fighters fight, the top gyms are (mostly but not exclusively, but youll find plenty) around bangkok. So why would you go anywhere else? Tiger is an MMA camp for holiday makers. THey do daily yoga classes even. This is not muay thai imo. If i were going to thailand i would want a well established thai gym with a good history of producing top quality fighters. Quote:

| Resident Groaner | also i would add, when choosing a gym to train at, dont choose one just cos they have a lot of champions TEACHING there. find where the champions learnt from, go to the source.

![]() | Ghost, It seems you didn't really answer my questions, and instead just asked me a question. haha. Listen, my questions were sincere and I would really appreciate any feedback that you have to give. I'm sorry if for some reason you took my post in a confrontational way, because it's not. I've done a lot of research so far, and actually most of the people who suggest against Phuket, recommend Chiang Mai as opposed to Bangkok. On the other hand, everyone who has actually been to this camp seems to have had a great experience. The other gym I have seriously been considering is Jitti in Bangkok. I looked at the Fairtex camps too, but they seemed extremely overpriced (double cost of some other gyms.) So once again I extend the offer for any feedback you can provide, or answers to my questions, including the gym(s) in Thailand that you recommend from personal experience. Thanks.

| Resident Groaner | Ok to make it clear what i mean ill answer each alone 1) a proper thai gym should be an established gym in thailand with long standing history of producing top quality fighters that fight at the main stadiums. 2) Its a new gym, its an american gym, not thai. I dont rate the padwork in their videos at all, very much geared to fun. 3)The people that have been talk about it like it was a pleasant holiday and seem to come back kicking a lot but not much else. They dont say anything bad about it, but they havent trained anywhere else bar one girl from the UK that i met at a gym in bangkok, after training a day in the bangkok gym her words were "bloody hell" lol 4) Of the ones you may find online i have been to Fairtex, sor vorapin, sasiprapa, jittis, bangkok fight club, chu whattana, nongkee pahayuth ive been to several other smaller gyms you wont find quite so easily. i was in thailand for 3 years so got about a bit. Id avoid fairtex (holiday camp) sorvorapin(a complete joke) the others are ok. bangkok fight club is a waste of time if you dont know the trainers but if you get to know them then good. Quote:

| Registered User | Sinbi is pretty good option if you're going to be in Phukket. A number of my friends train there each year, and I've heard nothing but good things. Great video footage, too

![]() ![]() ![]() | I agree with Ghosts criteria for a top camp. It all depends on how long your going for and what your aims are, also your past experience. As Ghost says it seems to me that the people who train in gyms such as Tiger/Rawai etc all have a good experience and go back, but they dont have anything to compare against. I had only trained in mainly gyms that had only thai fighters in them, when i went to Rawai i was shocked at so many people,it wasnt for me but that is because i had something to gauge it against. It wasnt that the training was bad,its just the other camps are so much better and more authentic so the experience you get is different. Of the ones you mentioned above i think Jittis is the best option bro. |

| Resident Groaner | I dont rate Rompo, it used to be good a few years back but all reports out of there are bad. Met several padmen that had walked from there after months of no pay and they set western fighters up in rigged mickey mouse fights in order to make good stories to get more people training there. I heard that from thai padmen that had worked there and heard some bad stuff from western thai boxers that had been there. However it used to be a top gym. Not sure where it stands now but the info i had goes back just 1 year so if its turned around then it has done it quickly.
