Ramon said in a recent interview that he loved fighting in Thailand. Cause the heat and humidity somehow gave him extra energy.

The thai people love Diamond Dekkers! One helluva a nice guy too. I really like him as a person, tough as nails too.

Wow he was a tough man,the heat saps my enegy guess thats one reason why I was no where near Ramon Ds standard in Fighting.

Your probably also a little less crazy then he was. As you know he sometimes fought twice a week. On wednesday fighting in Paris and the next saturday another one in Bangkok. No rest, no healing.

But also mad respect for never backing out of a challenge. Like his 2005 K-1 bout against Duane Ludwig. Eventhough he tore some ligaments in his right shoulder he still showed up. And knocked Ludwig down in every round. It was probably lucky for Ludwig he could only use his left hand. Otherwise he most likely wouldn't have seen the end of round one.

Dekkers is definitely someone who deserves everyone's respect. I didnt know that was what happened in the k1 fight with ludwig..Wow! Like i said even thai people give him the respect.

I like the two dvds he did of his fights and career, very inspirational and so much heart and fire.

Oh I defo wasnt as tough,or had as much power,the man had heart in abundence didnt he and yeah probably a bit crazy lol.

the extra energy he got from being in thailand was from the altitude im sure. here i cant go nearly as hard as i could back home in n.c.
washington is too highup and the air is thin, back home the humidity opens me up and im a beast. here not so much because it is harder to breathe.

Alot of good stuff, thanks everyone. I always wondered why Coban never made the transition or gave boxing shot. he definitely had his own unique muay thai style which was to use the muay thai tools to set up his hands. So he would kick if he had to, clinch if he had to, enter with whatever he could. It was different of course than the european type with the boxing footwork. But i thought he would have done pretty well in boxing given he really liked his hands, kind of like samson.
