Default k1 bojansky vs manhouef

I like both bojansky and manhouef, classic tall vs small match up in k1, it wasnt the first time they both fight, but interesting:

It was the third time if I'm not mistaking. And Melvin has yet to win.

Manhoef seemed to take the fight to Bonjasky and hurt him, but Bonjasky still won. There were some unanswered leg kicks landed on Manhoef, but whenever Manhoef landed a punch on Bonjasky it rocked him.

Great fight.

Unfortunatly it was not quit the thriller, due to some injuries Melvin sustained in an earlier bout, as their fight in the ArenA last year.
Melvin missing two teeth and having about a gallon of blood pumped from his lungs later that night. One of the best and toughest fights I've ever seen.

Bonjasky kicks and knees like a mule and in the 2008 GP, he seemed to knock Manhoef down enough to be declared the winner.

I still think the 2009 GP should have gone to Manhoef. Manhoef took the fight to Bonjasky, negated his kicks and rocked him with punches in the inside.

The first 2 rounds were pretty even since Melvins punches often bounced off of Remy's cover. Melvin slowed down in the last round and Remy had the clearer hits. So I think it was a fair call. Of course I wouldn't have minded an extra round. Just to be abslolutely sure naturally.

Remy's kicks did not seem to affect Melvin and if what you say is true about his check up later, he did a good job of not showing it. Still, Melvin took the fight to Remy during the first two rounds. Whenever Melvin landed a punch, Remy lost his composure.

An extra round would have been fine and could have allowed for a clearer victory for either fighter.

No. That was at It's Showtime in 2008 in the Amsterdam Arena. Not during the final 16, 2009. In 2008 after the fight he even gave a short interview shortly after the fight. And later that night he was hospitalized.

Beeing as short a fighter as Melvin is he doesn't have much choice then take it to his opponent. And Remy may have lost his composure for a second but regained it again immediatly and retaliated. And where Melvins punches often landed on Remy's cover, never mind if Remy was rocked by it for a moment or not, most of Remy answers landed. Remy simply had more clear hits then Melvin. Especially in the last round.

Tick, I would have liked an extra round on the latest bojansky/manhouef bout, it was pretty close and i think the extra round would been the way to go.

Ali O. is a jerk...poor Peter.

But he did fight well. Good strategy. Constantly throwing Peter to the ground to mess with his head. And he suprised everyone with a great show of stamina. Not realy something he is known for. Everyone pretty much expected he would gas out after 1 round or so.

yes, i was suprised too he didnt gas out early. The throws reminded me a bit of manhouef using almost the same strategy but possibly not as effectively in his fight with bojansky. I was amazed how easily they both just tossed them to the ground.

I haven't been following A.Overeem over the past years...he's on some kind of athletic supplement. He's huge and powerful! A couple of years ago, he was still somewhat explosive, just lankier.

Well, both of them also compete in MMA.
