The first one isn't realy a seminar. Dave Breed went to Breda for the weekend to train there. Surprise gift from his girlfriend.

Dekkers generates power when he hits. I love watching him move.

Yes, he generates power from the hips like one should. I'm not real crazy about the twist to the right before he moves back to the left to throw the right round kick (demonstrating the RK in the seminar vid). I understand what he's doing but it also tends to telegraph when done in a fight. That being said, he's obviously been very successful and makes it work so good on him. I like watching how he moves as well.

Well. There is a little telegraphing. And they fell for it pretty much everytime. He used his kicks mainly to open his opponents cover up for his punch combinations.

What little there is winds up working because he moves in a torrent, he explodes quickly and works in combination. Plus he is generating knockout power which helps. Many people who work their hands in thai boxing use a kick or something simple to enter, coban did the same because he liked to punch mostly.

Like I said earlier, I understand what he is doing and I’m in no way inferring that he doesn’t (He’s proven beyond a doubt). But with new students, that twist to the right and then twist back to the left to throw a right RK is something I try to get them to minimize. I want them to use a slight shift as opposed to a more exaggerated twist (kind of hard to explain on line) to tap power from the hips. Again, he was probably overemphasizing the mechanics to help explain them. I just mentioned it because it’s something I notice many new students doing in an attempt to add power when you don’t need to if you get the mechanic of pivoting the hip down.

And I agree, I love using kicks to set up the hands, and vice versa.

Yeah he showed the shot of alright, but still landed it often enough to make it worthwhile!,I used to wonder how he got away with it against high level opponents but he certainly did.
