Unhappy "pang" or "tang"?

This may be a stupid question, but as my 3rd grade teacher Mr. Garrison used to say, there are no stupid questions, only stupid people.

During Ajarn Chai's portion of Legends, the students were yelling either "pang" or "tang" when they did a long knee. Which one was it? I did Muay Thai IN THAILAND and never heard this.

Thank you

The only Thai you need to know is "Sing" [ha].

Wink Essential Thai part II

I've changed my mind. The number one most useful piece of Thai vocabulary you will ever need is this:

Hong Nam

Oh, and if you're going to ask me anything else about the Thai language, please limit your questions only to the words and phrases that I actually know.

Chiok dee,

That's a pretty good translation, but the literal meaning is "It is nothing." Don't get me started in Tagalog...

Hmmm. I don't know what Tang means. Ajarn Chai taught in English for the first 20 years that I knew him. Then, all of a sudden he wants everybody to learn a whole bunch of Thai words. And if you don't get it right...push-ups. Well, several hundred push-ups later I still struggle with my Muay Thai terminology. But I know enough Thai to flirt with a waitress just fine.

I put up some Muay Thai vocabulary at the following link: http://www.thaiboxing.com/vocabulary.html

Cheers,

Terry
