Brian,
I wouldn't be worried about his weight, but I would earnestly seek further details on his fight record. Can you get the straight scoop on how many wins/losses/ko's he has?
There are dirty games that happen in the process of setting up a fight, and you would do well to be wary of doing this without some help. As an example, Tony Cassius had a record of 2-0. Promising young fighter needing experience. Well, he got matched up with a guy from Thailand that had a 2-0 record. What they DIDN'T tell him is that this guy also had a record of 57-2-1 in Thailand. That wasn't a fair match up. And, of course, the results weren't pretty.
I would stand your ground on this one and ask for more information. If the promoters are reputable they should give it to you.
Terry
