Thread: To Fight or Not To Fight... That is the question.

I'm with Terry. I think the weight may not be as important as his record. Where does he train? What is his name? Look you trained your butt off for this fight I saw you at camp) and just cause the other guy got cold feet doesn't mean that all the time and effort you have put into this should be lost on that chicken! You are prepared and ready to fight. Do what you have trained to do! Let me know if I can help find out more about the guy ok? It's a perfect day to say..."Let's Roll"!

Hey... Thanks for the compliment. I was just trying to keep up with your effort (at the camp). You're an inspiration to me. It's awesome to know that you can have a family, work and still knock it down when need be.

I'm working on following your example and that of legends such as Khuen Khru Greg Nelson. It's the real pinnacle of living in the Martial Arts. To find the balance between family and fighting or at least training.

It never ceases to amaze me how many sharks are crusin around in these forums. Pretty cool!

Anyway... I found out that the guy supposedly hasn't had any Muay Thai fights yet... That is not to say he hasn't fough before though. Matt May, the guy I fought before had a record of 2 and 0 but that was just his Thai Boxing record. He had had 10 or so boxing matches and a couple kickboxing fights as well.

I don't know how many fights outside of Muay Thai he's had. I also told the organizers that if the guy doesn't get down to 145 lbs. I won't fight him... Although, I'll probably end up doing so anyway. I want to fight so badly I can litterally taste it.

I believe in what we learn in the TBA, I have complete faith in the instruction we recieve. I feel that I can hold my own against this guy 10 lbs. or no 10 lbs. but then again, Ajarn Chai, told me not to fight guys over 3 lbs. heavier than me... I don't want to go against his advice... man I'm so torn up inside.

well looks like to fight huh! brian fought and fought well! he kicked that guys ass. that guy didnt even touch him. great job brian, i hope to train with you soon. all that hard work paid off. i hope you will consider more fights in the future. im so glad i was able to come watch you kick some ass.

I don't want to make any excuses. I was very happy with that fight. It was my first fight and yes there were a great number of things that I could have done better but I fought hard and I gave Mr. May some things to remember me by. Oh, and yes, that was the one at Sidekicks.

I don't want it to sound like I felt cheated. Matt is a game opponent, he's gritty and takes punishment like a fish to water... he seems impurvious to pain. He did well and I'm not saying that he didn't put up one Hell of a fight. But the fact that the decision was unanimous... I don't feel as if that does the effort I put forth justice.

But that's the fighting game and that's the world we live in. I don't want to sound like an ungracious looser. The chips fell where the chips fell and I moved on. Decisions are something that other people make while they look on from their seats in the stands. What happened in the middle of the ring... between me and Mr. May... That was what was important. Two evenly matched guys duked it out, learned something and enjoyed the experience... at least I did... I hope he did too.

This time though, I feel that the decision was just... of course this time I got the unanimous decision (funny how it's different when you're on the winning side of things). But to be honest, I feel that that score depicted what happened on Saturday. I executed my game plan, which was to move forward at all costs and force a bloody war. What happend however, was that I was able to obtain the prumb and knee. I don't think Mr. May was prepared for that type of battle and thus, I was able to catch him off guard and keep him that way for the majority of the three rounds we fought.

I just hope that I was as gracious in victory as Mr. May was in Idaho. I have a great deal of respect for him both as a fighter and as a person. He has always treated me with respect and conducted himself as a gentleman in all our dealings together.

I wish him well in his future bouts...
