ok so my last question on the subject....what do you think about taking a MT class that is a part of a MMA class, meaning they teach MMA and incorporate some MT (I am pretty sure thats what it means) or do you think i should find a class that strictly teaches MT? thanks.
the reason for my question is i have one more class to look at the is straight MT and a class that is MMA and MT, after that I am done and have to make a decision. Part of the problem is I know nothing about MMA lastly in case its a factor, im taking this for self defense not really tournament fighting so... thanks again for all your help

That depends if you have money or not..
of course if you take a class specializing in one art.. it's going to be better in that art.. if u mix it.. then it takes time but mma doesnt probably teach the full mt teachings.. but it's still coo..

If you want to learn muay Thai for the sake of learning muay Thai, go to the class that is straight muay Thai.
If you want to learn muay Thai to improve your fighting abilities you can still take straight muay Thai but you should also train mma. Thaiboxing is not a complete martial art (no ground) so you should incorporate other arts that will complement it. There is no one BEST martial art. That is why it is good to train in arts that will compliment each other. Tim |

If its for self defense take mma, you try to tipe someone on the street, and you might find yourself going down quick. There are some aspects of any tournament rules fighting which can be foolish in the street.
