Default silly training question

say you were to train at least three times a week
how long do you folks feel it would take for someone to gain enough skill to be able to defend themselves?

In 6 months you'll be able to use the basics that you've learned. To increase your chances of actually using what you know effectively...find your favorite basic, kick, knee, elbow, uppercut, whatever and practice it 10,000 times a day against 10,000 different attacks, from 10,000 different people for 6 months... use it against everything.

The goal is to keep learning and refining you art while you perfect that one thing everyday...then when you have it and I mean you could do it against anything with your eyes closed...pick something else that you love, and do that 10,000 times...you get the picture.

In six months, you'll see a major difference. The next big leap in being able to use your art is 2 years. At that point you'll get "the eye." That is the ability to slow your mind, watch them, see what they're doing, decide what to do to counter their attack, and do it...before they can reach you with whatever they did.

But practice your move for six months, and when you get in a fight... you'll have the confidence, experience, and ability to do it to that poor joe over and over and over again against whatever he does to you.
