Im not a thai boxer but i took a class for about 4 months awhile ago, and quit because of the money situation. anyways i just lifted weights when i got out of the class but now i have a messed up back from deadlifts and cant lift at all anymore . I can do push ups tho as it doesnt really put much pressure on my back, i wanan do them to get in good shape like i was when i was in the muay thai class. How often should i do push ups , everyday? every other day twice a week? im msotly looking to get faster muscles and strengthen my back thanks.

With a bit of streching everyday and see a good osteopath you will be able to do some light work on your back to repair it .
Do some Qi gong on your days off or some soft arts ie tai chi kung fu , karate kata, very healthy. I fractured my back about 4 years ago now , i can lift whatever the **** i want and train as much as i like . Take it a bit easy. stretching daily will repair and strengthen your back in no time combined with Qi gong and a good diet , you cant go wrong.

I fractured my back about 4 years ago now , i can lift whatever the **** i want and train as much as i like . Take it a bit easy. stretching daily will repair and strengthen your back in no time combined with Qi gong and a good diet , you cant go wrong ---------------------------------- yep i do some back stretches and stuff to strengthen it everyday almost, i went to a phsyical therapist and they showed me some things... but my back still seems to hurt. Really u fractured your back and now u can lift and jumproap? damn thats inspiring. I told myself if my back is ever good enough to train like how i did when i was in muay thai, thats all ill do ...train.What are those styles u listed is it like karate but light contact? |

Yeah i fractured my back jumping off cliffs into water , not shallow water very deep water , i landed kinda sideways and half upside down . It was about 35 feet , iwas a bit fatiged , as id been out on the booze the night before , just playin silly buggers..
I couldnt walk without pain for months.. I couldnt sleep on my back for ages. Healthy diet with lots of meals. No drugs of any kind , mybe Alchol when you are really sore , dont over indulge though. Your body has to be in perfect balance if you want any hope of getting better. Stess less dotn get worked up over things , this will also hinder your improvement. Qi gong = Kung fu , Meditation ,Stretching , tai chi yoga , Karate Katas done slower , All these arts are criticised by alot of Hardcore Kickboxers.. When most people dont realise they are more what i call "building arts" than anything . Especially the karate kata , they are excellant for nursing injuries or doing on your training days off.I think of them as healing and repairing forms..

Other than the abs and calves, muscle groups should be strength-trained no more frequently than once every two days - in order to allow for the muscle to rebuild. That said, doing pushups anywhere from every other day to once a week will improve strength depending on your body's reaction. Everyone is different, so you'll have to experiment.

Tang Soo Do for those who dont know = 60% Soo Bahk 30% Northen Chinese 10% Southern Chinese TSD is both a hard and soft style, derriving hardness from Soo Bahk, and soft flowing movements from Northen Chinese systems. edit:I cant belive i bought into this ^ lies, lies. TSD is shotokan with a Korean name and an emphasis on hip movement.

I think any new training aid that comes along is worth an honest evaluation. Exercise labs have shown that doing the same exercise in the same way is 'learned' by the muscles in about 26 days, whereafter the value of that particular way of exercise diminishes significantly. That partially explains why you must always increase your reps. Research has also shown that there are precise variations of exercise for development of ancillary muscles. These must be worked isolated and specific. So, it seems to me that if there is a pushup device which aligns things correctly, and has many variations, it will work for a while. Anyone who has a home gym changes equipment all the time for varieties of reasons. I have done literally thousands of pushups between thai pads, and I got bored. Currently, kettlebells seem to be the 'hot' training aid. Before that was that big ball, for core training. A few years back everyone was getting bowflexes and soloflexes. I guess my point is, if you don't want to try it, or haven't tried it, why badmouth it? Someone here will look at it, buy or make one, use it and benefit from it who would never even have heard of it if it had not been posted. Guaranteed.

At Lanna we were doing Hindu pushups http://www.cbass.com/Furey.htm every morning as part of our cool-down routine. They are a bit different then normal pushups though.
The Hindu squats are really good too.
