Post UK Thaiboxing Show 29/6/03 Sunday

****How The Show Went ****

Pic = Jon Paul French Wins the IKF Welsh Light Heavyweight Thaiboxing Title

This scheduled 5 round fight was action right from the start - Ricky changed his fight tactic since the last show & tryed to dominate the fight in the clinch & throw heavy bombs at Jon's head, Jon retaliated by starting most combo's with a head kick followed by punches & after the first round he felt his footing & started to apply the pressure but still keeping his distance when out of the clinch, in the 3rd round Jon started throwing some deadly alternating knee's to ricky's body while keeping a good guard then caught ricky clean in the face with a knee dropping him to the canvas causing an 8 second count while he was unsteady, then Jon followed with another knee to the face, moments later the bell went & while in between round 3 & 4 Ricky was unable to continue due to a possible wrist injury making Jon the victor by TKO.

More action from older fighters
This fight was between 2 veterans firsttime fighters (age 37 Vs 40) & this was classed as the fight of the night as the 2 slugged it out with leg kicks & VERY heavy head punches & continued right up till the final bell.

Women's Thaiboxing

Erica (red shorts) fought a hard fight (this both fighter's first fight) but unfortunatelly lost out in the clinch/knees (only from lack of experience) but managed to hold together with a good guard & will do well in the future, erica lost on points.

(i have recentlly been told that the preston girl that erica fought may have had a few fights already which would shed some light onto the fight but unless i get proof we must take their word).

2 first timers at full contact
julian (black trousers) came from a taekwondo background & tried flashy kicks but only stuck to 1 hit comb's (thou some punches were good especially the jab) but he turned his back on his opponent to many times, between the two fighters i think to much nerves got in & the fight became to scrappy & the referee had to get involved many times to try to tidy up the fight, julian decided to call it a day (possible fitness) & lost by tko
