this is an interesting poll, a question i would like to shed some light on.
up till about 2 months ago i trained in muay thai which i thought was very effective for both conditioning , dicipline etc ,however just this week i have joined another school who specialise in san shou kickboxing after my muay thai school closed. last week i got into a bit of an altercation and after taking 3 punches i ended up grappling....but the startling thing was i didnt kno how to take the guy to the ground..so i suppose my swithch to san shou comes at an appropriate time....having said that i love muay thai and if my gym hadnt have closed i would have continued for as long as i could! id like to find out more about san shou

muay tai is more effective i think its not full of crap and fancy movement it must be direct and not stupid acts

A) Wat is "muah tai"? |

I haven't trained in Muay Thai, I've done a little bit a San Shou, so I'm not versed enough to say which is better, but in terms of advantages in styles, i think that is completely irrelevant, i believe the advantage lies in the fighter who is stronger, faster, smarter, and more experienced. But thats just my opinion

Hai! You're wrong!
Sanda/Shansou is a modification from "LEI TAI = FREE FIGHT (WITHOUT RULE)"! If you looked at Chinese History, you will see that all kungfu master fight (with weapon or hand empty) for live and/or got new studies/challenges. They fought each other without any protection (body protector, gloves, etc). Shansou/sanda is a new model of fighting which is prepared to protect the fighter! In 70-80, many people or kungfu practioner fought across China Mainland, like as Taiwan, Filipina, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Canada, US,etc. Most of them beated local martial art! In our country, Muay Thay Fighter never win the fight if he met Sanda/Kungfu or Pencak Silat fighter (tournament or non tournament)! Why? because, rank of skill and his martial art is below then them! So? SHANSOU/SANDA IS NOT MUAY THAY! Do you know that Kungfu Fighter through Shansou/Sanda won several times at "KUNGFU VS MUAY THAY" Event both in China and/or Thailand? You should learn more deeply before you give your recommendation! Thanks. Quote:
