I don't think any situation warrents it mate. If it's minor you don't do it right cos it's ungentlemanly innit. If it's life and death right, choke him out right, don't piss about lifting your feet off the ground right mate.

If threatened and you fear for your own safety, you take whatever shot is available to you - you may only have one chance. Nobody wants to be a dead gentleman.

A good, effective choke isn't difficult to pull off, nor does it take 5 minutes. 5 seconds would be the longest amount of time it would take. (It's not the windpipe you're blocking, it's the arteries in your neck).

    Default Yep

One of my favortie moves...its good as a distrction while attacking with your other weapons (hand feet whatever). The movies make it seem like you do it and wait..hell do it while hitting the guy. If you only fight when it matters then there are NO,none, nada, and just to be clear 0 (zero) rules in fighting. Sportsmanship is for sports.

I'd only do it if I was losing or thought I'd lose.

I've done it quite a few times on accident with training in the prummb and in a sanctioned fight. (of course I think it didn't land that time on the mark...I think he milked it for some rest time when I nailed him in the perineum.)

I've done it on purpose in fights...and I'd do it again, multiple times if the target is open to me.

you talking about a choke that constricts the carotid? That's still a long ass time...maybe your shifting some of your pressure onto the shoulders or into the thoracic girdle or some shit...try a short choke with the forearm on the windpipe if you really need the job done...but be careful, it has a slight chance of being lethal (don't ask me...I wouldn't use it unless I absolutely NEEDED to), and may send you to prison.

When you talk about ball shots and chokes guys...I think your last concern should be about being careful with the other guy. You use these moves in real fights cause in sports they're a NONO. A properly aplied choke will take an opponent out in short time and I mean out for good.

So the chokes in BJJ, Judo, MMA and sub grappling are not the real deal chokes you should use on the street, right. What are these chokes that are a no no in sports that are quicker and more deadly mate?

no i havent been trained in chokes is the answer to your question mate, well not to any great extent, i dont really go for them, do u ever in a fight really . . ?? a "real" fight i mean, everyone just swings at each other, if i do try to tie sum1 up i just do wat feels natural like which is basically ring the buggers neck!! BJJ guys always go on about there grappling and holds on the deck and stuff, the floor is the last place u want to be in a street brawl ( no am not "dissin" it so dont get at me BJJ guys it was more directed at nutter lol)!! the only thing that u shud do wen u go down is get back up!!

anyway this is getting away from my original question, but i'm glad to see there are some bolluck kickers out there the take no shit approach. . .

so ppl can we get back to the poll and stop arguing over how good BJJ is cus that sounds like it gona start agin

Go and try some BJJ or MMA mate, if you learn an effective clinch game, which to be fair ain't in Wado right, you can avoid that blind swinging crap you said you do in real fights and just choke um out good and proper right. Plenty of standing chokes too.

You want the choke(like a rear naked) to get the arteries, restricted blood flow to the brain is what makes chokes so effective.
