No, you aren't the only one. I think it reeks of BS too.

I've got a friend who lives in another state, he is currently searching for a place to train Combatives. The place he has found says this about their system.
1) It is based on leverage so anyone can do them, regardless of age or fitness level.
2) It was specially designed so you can master the 36 lessons easily from your own home.
3) Defend yourself against an opponent of virtually any size.
4) This system is used by Navy SEALs, Marines, Army Rangers, the Secret Service, SWAT and the FBI because it is the fastest way to street readiness guaranteed.
I've tried to tell him this sounds like typical martial art marketing BS, but he won't hear it. He won't tell me who it is or name the system but am I the only one who thinks it reeks of BS?
No, you aren't the only one. I think it reeks of BS too.

"In all countries where personal freedom is valued, however much each individual may rely on legal redress, the right of each to carry arms - and these the best and the sharpest - for his own protection in case of extremity, is a right of nature indelible and irrepressible, and the more it is sought to be repressed the more it will recur."
James Paterson
Well I talked to him on the phone tonight. He said he watched a video on the system and they stress that it works for anyone, young or old, no need to be flexible or in shape.![]()
He still wouldn't tell me who the system is from though.I told him it was the biggest load of crap I'd heard since LT X promoted himself to Captain x but he just says I mistrust everyone with a billboard school.
He's going to film some techniques and send them to me, I can't wait to see the BS he's paid good money for...he says it has a 30 day money back guarantee lol. So he's going to film the techniques and send them to me to evaluate. He says if I still think its BS he will send it back. Anyone wanna bet whether he winds up sending it back? LOL
He's really pissin' me off by refusing to tell me whose system it is...I told Him I could honestly evaluate the material regardless of the name involved, I didn't need the name to call BS on the marketing, I'm sure the name won't bias my opinion of the techniques either.
No fucking systems works for old, stiff, out of shape people, I don't care who is teaching it.
It sounds like the commercial for the new gracie self defense system they are selling on TV.
In fact it has to be that. they are selling 36 videos designed to "take control" and dominate in a street fight
The commercial shows them pulling gaurd and crap in parking lots.
it sold for like $9.95 or something, I was laughing to hard to get all the details.

Yep...It was indeed the Gracie family.![]()
Oh well I was worried it was someone I actually respected, I should have known better.![]()
Dude sent me the entire package to review, the 13 DVDs and the fightbook and chart. Trust me there will be a review, I've already made some astounding discoveries.
I'll be punch proof in no time according to the handbook!!
It also seems I've wasted years of study because there are no defenses for strikes to the eyes or groin in Gracie Combatives due to the fact "Gracie family research has shown bad guys punch people in the face".

The disclaimer states WORD FOR WORD:
FINAL WARNING
Practicing tournament or sport techniques is risky, even if you understand they will not work in a real fight. In a real fight you must rely on trained instincts. If you dilute your training with impure, unrealistic sport applications of Gracie Jiu-jitsu you will hinder your ability to respond quickly and effectively with the right technique. Worse you may reflexively execute a sports technique with potentially disastrous consequences. While there is little harm in sampling the techniques of Gracie Jui-jitsu, you risk developing bad habits if you practice these techniques to the point of developing reflexes.
"If the techniques aren't working, evaluate the bad guy behavior reminders".
" The Gracie Combative system was designed to prepare you for fighting unskilled opponents in a real fight. A poor training partner will resist your techniques or change his behavior to resist your technique."
![]()
But how many times have we all been told how the GJJ crowd practices against "fully resisting opponents? (And how many times have I pointed out they were full of it).
Isn't it interesting that it turns out NO art requires more cooperation and choreography than GJJ.![]()
If the techniques don't work.....you're in the shit.
