I'm living here in hawaii since june and have been in a number of street altercations the worst one giving me a broken leg what type of ma workout should I be doing on my own to be prepared every day for a fight? Right now I box in a pool and do ressitance training and stick and blade work on a tree only. My right ankle is permanently wrecked and the osteo-arthrits in both my feet is really bad. I carry a screw driver for self defense but don't want any legal drama if I use it so so any ideas?

First off, you need to figure out why you keep getting into fights. Second, get rid of the freakin' screwdriver. It's going to be really difficult to explain why you carry it around if you (God forbid) use it on someone. Then figure out which gym you are going to train at.
Which island are you on, what schools are available to you, and out of curiosity, how old are you? Also, why do you think you keep getting into fights?

I actually agree with this.
If you are continuing to have issues with other people (most normal people don't) than the smart money is on the fact that YOU are doing something wrong. My advice would be to work on your interpersonal skills, maybe take a communications class or something at a local community college and learn how to verbally defuse a confrontation, and if you feel like you have some sort of pervasive issues with anger or violence...maybe talk it over with a professional, and if you are already being treated by a mental health professional, find a better one or maybe bring this stuff up and be candid about it.
GETTING INTO FIGHTS IS NOT NORMAL.
Also...you could be putting yourself in bad situations...stop going to the bar, or club (try not to be intoxicated, period), or hanging out where people who are looking for trouble hang out...ie. stop looking for trouble.
If your neighborhood is that bad, move.
Seriously.
My money is on you just having interpersonal and ego (pride) issues...crime is an act of instrumental aggression, and it isn't a fight. You are getting into altercations...which means you are feeding into it, and you are also a guilty party. Show some restraint and, as the rappers say, check yourself before you wreck yourself.
can you give us details on some of the altercations you have been having?
Blue Wave,
You’re in Hawaii, the home of Kempo/Kenpo Karate, one of the fastest growing Martial Arts in popularity thanks to the MMA. Kenpo is known for its near explosive, short-ranged attacks that often move faster than the opponent can see. No flashy kicking, mostly low and centerline kicks, as well as chin na, joint locks, and Ju Jitsu. Take some classes and work your hand speed, and buy yourself a Kubaton and figure out via the internet how to use it. It doubles as a keychain and you almost always have your keys with you. Better than a screw driver and easier to explain. It is not illegal to carry in Connecticut, don’t know about Hawaii.
