Default Street sport fighting

Alright...I'll clarify the title.
I used to get into fights, or get into set up fights for money or other "prizes"...back when I was a kid. Nothing serious.

I had always thought that you were as tough as the people that you beat. I held this belief until recently, and it was essentially what kept me going in these contest, could I take this person who was gritty...and then his grit, his toughness would be something that I had attained through beating them.

I just found out one of the kids I'd fought with on a few occassions, a scrapper and a street punk, ripped out somebodies eyeball in a fight when the other person came at him with a screwdriver.

This type of idiocy was something I had deep within my mind...an inability to seperate the sport aspect of fighting with the reality of a street fight. I could be missing an eye.

Just so you know...this is a lesson I've learned. If it's not sanctioned, or if it's at least not completely consentual with people to seperate the fighters, and with agreed upon "gentlemen's rules" it can't be sport, and can errupt anytime into a life threatening situation.

I remember one time I boxed two kids at once (boxed, no kicks, throws, etc) for half a bottle of Crovossier...never again. It's either a street fight, or a sport fight.

Reminds me of the scene from Snatch, where boxer Gorgeous George is headbutting the heavy bag to train for a fight:

"Is he allowed to do that?"

"It's an unlicensed boxing match!"
