Default batons

So I was playing with one of those collapsible batons someone gave me a long time ago, and I hate the grip on it. It might be because my hands are all calloused from crossfitting (knees to elbows, pullups, etc.) or because I have small hands or because I'm just not used to it, but I'm not entirely confident about retention with a a diamond plastic grip. I was wondering if there's anyone well-versed in batons who could give me the 101. And also about different types of batons. I've seen the kind that bounces back after making contact and the kind that is mostly static. Mine is collapsible and I don't think I like that either because the weight isn't evenly distributed and it's a bit awkward, though I may just need more practice. Thoughts?

I'm more into small batons Kuboton, yawara, Koppo. The baton is illegal to posses in Ca. Otherwise I'd play with my old PR24 more...

I have a nice heavy hardwood pool stick in the car. Two halves of a pool stick anyway. The bottom half has a very nice linen wrap that feels good in my hand and gives a much better grip and texture than regular baton might have... If you get my meaning...

No, no, officer...tant's on his way to the local pool hall and he NEEDS his lucky pool stick.

Seriously, I do recall some clause about how it has to be on the way for its intended use. For example, i remember that MA weapons can only be in a car when the vehicle is traveling to/from training/demonstrations/etc. It's all in the "interpretation."

Maybe they like you? I'm still spreading it around before I can give it to treelizard again.

Exactly! The machette under the seat is strictly for farm work too! Honest!!

I was stopped for an illegal three point turn a few years ago. The officer asked what was in the case. I told him it's a pool stick and he asked to see it. I handed it to him and he opened it looked it over and gave it back. Didn't even give me a ticket for the traffic infraction... I'm a nice guy!

I was wondering about that, because I often have a lot of weapons in my car, solely because I'm transporting them from one place to another (of course). I've never really been questioned about it, though. One time I even told the cop who pulled me over exactly what exactly I had in my glove compartment at the time (he asked for my registration and proof of insurance) and asked him if I could open it anyway. He was like, "Yeah, sure, whatever." Is it just California where it's illegal to have stuff in your car?

The laws vary from state to state but Ca is known for wierd and strict laws regarding weapons.

Whereas Arizona is the Wild West.

And I learned this the hard way when I was living in my tent-home in Globe and accidentally ended up on someone else's property when I thought I was on BLM land.

Too bad I didn't have my pit bull!
