its not the style that makes the best but its you....
imagine if u practice kung fu or karate but u lack the courage and determination with this well u cant be successful in any fights even when u faced a gang member who only knows is fighting...definitely u will lose because even u have ur many styles of MA but u lack confidence and faith... but if ur willing to trained to defend ur selfs in street fights well the key of that is u must be ready for all times and be brave and have determination and faith...that is the best weapon againts a real street fight...

Hello, the_dude. This question has been asked a thousand times here on this forum. Hit search at the top right on the blue bar under the welcome screen, type in key word.
But a short answer, I have found no "BEST" system...neither have I found a good system strictly for self-defense that has been mass produced and packaged for consumption. There are some good folks with good advice but not really any schools. I would look at what happens in a street fight/self-defense situation especially how the criminal selects and approaches his victims (what strategies he uses to get close), etc as your starting point. Many folks begin with training in one system and cross training in another, as an example of this training in Muay Thai, BJJ, and firearms...etc.

Some people tell me that styles such as
takewando are completely useless since executing complicated menovers are practically useless in a real fight. esp slow kicks Judo is pretty practical but requires more muscle than technique. Karate requires hell of a training.....Not to mention that I once defeated my sensei just one month after joining Karate, with an ambush from the back. Kung Fu no idea but surely fighting like a monkey or Crane will get u no where in a fight. |

the most basic moves of all martial arts are the ones use din street fights - punching, kicking so they're all as good as each other. except maybe tae wan do, which is mainly kicks and very good at leg distance, but weaker closer up.
