I've been reading the forums and this comes up all the time.. "So and so did this should I have clobbered them"? Or whatever... To most of these questions they seem easy to me.. No!! However, IF "so and so" made clear intent to do harm to me, I'd be showing somebody my Flying arm bar that I can land from a mile away [Insert sarcasm here]... Seriously though, If somebody created a clear and present threat to my safety I would take them out... Threat to me meaning attacking my "Bubble"... I try to maintain distance from everybody, I wont stand in striking range of an old lady at the checkout in Wal-Mart. with this type of evasiveness I believe anybody in my face is an imminent threat, I go out of my way to avoid the confrontation all together... Another thing I think is useful is the "authority voice" Loud and clear STOP or DON'T TOUCH ME.. Beyond all of that and there still coming, It's on.. and as long as I do my job right It'll be legal... Remember though In Texas robbers get shot..

I agree with trying to deescalate the situation verbally before it becomes a physical confrontation.
On a side note, you ever notice "dangerous animals" in the wild only attack stuff they eat or that directly threatens them? Snakes hiss or rattle before they bite. Lions roar and growl even wasps make noise before they sting you by buzzing your head. Only ninjas make no sound before killing some one.

Interesting to bring wildlife up... I had a Western Diamondback, Pure and simple the masters of range... Never missed...EVER. Of course it would probably help to have heat seekers imbedded in your face!
Oh and sometimes he didn't rattle. Especially when you surprised him.

How many hours do you have to handle venomous creatures in your state to get licensed.

I have all kinds of "Pets"... My snake collection is diminishing, I do still have a copperhead and a ball python though... I caught the copperhead IN MY HOUSE!!!! He kinda likes it here so I'm taking care of him
Think about it, he was desperate by looking for food in the house... Now he's feed by the Snake God regularly. I think he worships me... All kidding aside, If you play with snakes your GONNA get bit It's just a matter of time... I haven't got tagged by a "hot" one yet[ 3 hail marry's] but I'm about to clean the cages.. Wish me luck....

As far as I last checked their is no "License" as long as their domestic to the area... But if I keep large numbers of them I would need a breeders permit.. If they were king cobras or something I would need an exotic snake permit which I think requires some form of training..

No Problem
... Well I just had a successfull operation snake's are clean, Cages clean, and I didn't get hit... Weird thing though, although the rattler is by all means the badder snake... The copperhead is way more aggressive and I'm tempted to say faster.. The diamondback(true warrior) just kinda sits back and waits for you to mess up They are also a little 'Hook Shy'.. I dropped the copperhead on the floor twice and both times he came right at me!! Maybe something to do with size the diamondback was substantially bigger than the copperhead...Either way the rattler was way 'better' a snake than the copperhead almost docile.. Until you get close enough...Later

Okay... and back to the topic.
I've never really thought about keeping my distance from people as much as I do about keeping my distance from someone after I've sized them up as a threat. That is a brilliant thought. As far as I'm concerned any immediate threat is worthy of a preemptive strike. Whether it be a guy at some club or a kid at my school. I have found that the authoritative voice works if you really mean it. P.S. Love snakes.

I say this...
"if we are going to fight, one of us is going to die, i fucking guarentee it, and i dont care who!" That stops every fight i've ever not wanted to be apart of. Here are my steps. Push me, rip my shirt, i'll just keep you away. and let you cool down. Threaten my body, i'll put you in the hospital. Threaten my family and i'll assassinate you any way i can. Most of the world just wants to push up on someone |

A clear and present threat is easy but what about the not so clear threat. What do you do to ferret out his (or their) intent? Where do you draw the line if the potential threat is just using heated words? Or movment without clear intent? And what about ruse? If you let him in to close the only clear and present danger you may recognize is from the view you have in the emergency room (or worse). When do you strike?
