Just a few more day until I hit the road for my travels through the danger zone.
I have been knocking out lots of training, and refamiliarizing myself with a variety of weapons. Always wanting to be prepared I saw an advertisement for "Close quarters Combat and personal defense training," so I went to check out the expo. There advert was nice with claims to have trained Police, military units, private security, and bodyguards. Please, people -- Don't pay a dime for expos, and research an organization before you even step into their free shows. Make sure you only recommend reputable instructors to friends and family. I will not mention business names, they get upset when you call them out, and I have already had one of them get a lawyer to contact me. This group was ridiculous. I do not claim to be tough, or a bad ass of any sort. But if these guys used the tactics and techniques they were showing the crowd, I am pretty sure me and my 4-year-old could take out 10 of them. The sad part was just how many young women in the crowd were awed by well-built muscular "Martial Arts Experts," and started signing up for the class. Then the young male teenage mind naturally followed suit. At best, in 6 months or so (that was the guaranteed training time to make you a master -- 6 months?) there will be a number of young men and women who walk with a bit of confidence and hopefully never get attacked by anyone. Those that do try to use the defense system, will become a statistic. Unless of course they use it on my neighbors dog -- nah, they'll still lose. I did speak to the manager of the Fitness Center who is allowing this "Team of Experts" to conduct classes to look into this group a bit more, but apprently they are certified by a few different organizations as instructors, and the management feels the instructors are a good bargain. I am not sure what I can do with just a week left at home, but I have asked some other reputable instructors to check this group out. With luck they will be able to do something and stop this crap training from taking place.
