What items do you typically carry?
I am always armed…the only time you’ll see me unarmed is on an airplane or in the shower. My standard EDC (everyday carry) loadout: 1. Glock 23 CCW, IWB, which I carry in the appendix carry for faster drawstrokes. 2. Two knives-one is a fixed blade that rides horizontally on the beltline and I carry it in the appendix carry that can be drawn with either hand. The other is a folder with a 5 inch blade I carry in my back pocket. 3. On my keychain I carry an LED light. 4. In my pants pocket I carry a chromtech stinger and a small canister of OC spray. 5. On my belt I carry a Letherman multipurpose tool. 6. I have three vehicles; each one has a AK47 with 3 30rd mags in the trunk or under the back seat. I also keep spare mags for my Glock in the car. Each also has a medical kit, survival food, extra blankets, and a bug out kit. 7. I sleep with a basegball bat and a Glock next to my bed. 8. I have two shotguns staged strategically in my home. 9. I have a large 72 hour emergency kit next to my bedroom door with enough supplies to keep my family of four going for 72hours. I also keep a rifle bag with it and my M4 with 6 30rd magazines and other rifle supplies including optics, tactical lights, etc. 10. I have two large dogs- one is a black lab, the other is a rotty, and a third is a small very cute dog (Bagel – part basset hound and part beagle he looks like a tank). 11. I always have my briefcase with me. In my brief case I keep a Surfire flashlight, another Glock with 3 magazines, two more knives, Ibuprofen, my note book, and whatever book I am reading at the time. I just finished “Flyboys” about WWII pilots in the South Pacific and I am starting “Sea of Glory” America’s voyage of discovery the U.S. Exploring expedition by Nathaniel Philbrick. I am always reading something. My wife thinks I am insane.

I actually live in the country in a very rural area in the Southwestern part of the United States, far far away from any metro area. If I lived in Detroit I would be carrying more guns and knives and body armor (which I keep in my truck along with night vision).

Wow thats quite a list. Id like to ask what is probably a noob question as my knowledge of guns comes from Rainbow Six lol.
Why did you select the AK 47. Would an h&k MP5 not be a better choice in a vehicle or maybe a mac 10 or something? I would have thought something smaller and suited to shorter range would be more usable? Also what is a chrometech stinger? On a less serious note: that list is crap man, you wont impress girls unless you have skill weapons, bo staff, numchucks and hunting bow. And whats with the dogs? Ligers are a cross between tigers and lions, they are pretty much the coolest animal on the planet, bred mainly for the magic skills. |

Actually that isn’t a stupid question.
Rifles are a mess to manipulate inside of a car, banging on stuff and the sling getting caught on stuff. I like the shorter barrels for vehicle guns. I have 2 M4s with barrel lengths of 10 inches and 11 inches. I also have an AK pistol that I do not keep in the car. The reason I went with the AK is they are great combat weapons. AKs are to the rifle world what the Glock is to the pistol world. Also, if my car gets broken into and the AK is stolen I am not out as much money as I would be with the MP5 or AR for that matter. So it really has to do with both costs and weapons reliability where the AK gives you the biggest bang for the buck. Still working on my bow hunting and computer hacking skills, I guess I’ll be the one in corner by myself at the next dance.

I have never had to pull it out here in the States. AKs are fairly common here in the U.S. and they are cheap, depending on the make and quality they run from $300 to $600 (US).

In Iraq I carried an M4 A3 with an 11 inch barrel and a Trijicon scope. I also carried an extra upper receiver with a 24inch bull barrel for long range shooting (800 yard shots). I could change them out in seconds and it was easier and took up less room than cartying two rifles. I aslo used AKs alot and towards the end of my contract was using the AK all the time..though the AK sucks at the long shots. I carried 15, 30 round mags and on at least one occasion shot all 15 mags up.

I don’t have bars over my windows because I want escape routes for my family if the house should catch on fire. And in the home I grew up in it didn’t stop the break-ins…the fucking criminals would simply break the bricks out that the bars were bolted into with a sledge hammer and make entry and took what they wanted anyway.

So, no one else here carries anything on them not even a knife? Not even some self-protection gear/weaponery in their cars?
I also want to add to my EDC list, I also carry a cell phone one of the most important pieces of equipment you can have.
