Hi everyone,

This is my first post on here so hello to everybody. I have been lurking awhile, and I find this discussion board very informative.

I am actually a member on a forum moderated by Thai Bri (but don't let that put you off!).

I didn't want to post anything negative here, particularly on my first time (being a Defend.net virgin so to speak).

However, I was just browsing a past post and I saw jubaji insulting someone by likening him to a member of The Fine Young Cannibals.

The term that offended me was "mongrel eyes."

I would like to ask the forum why jubaji is allowed to make blatantly rascist comments?

To say anyone has "mongrel eyes" in this day and age strikes me as extremely backward indeed. I am not delicate or easily offended. But I am surprised to see such terminology on this board.

BTW: I quick search of "Jubaji" and 'Mongrel" give us these two threads:

In the second thread, Uke refers to Jubaji as a 'mongrel', not the other way around. In the second one on post #50 Uke refers to Jubaji as having 'mongrel eyes' while making up an insulting physical description.

May we then presume that when the poster wrote:
"I would like to ask the forum why jubaji is allowed to make blatantly rascist comments?"

He of course meant insert "Uke" instead. Maybe that was the slip of the tongue to which the title refers?

...pretty racist statement. But that type of overt racisim is not nearly as dangerous as this type of (subtle, unintentional/unconscious, psuedo-well-meaning) symbolic racism;

Thanks for the responses. I suppose in retrospect I was over-reacting a bit. I went back, and the post in question was pretty old if I'm not mistaken.

Mike you are right about what you said about this board, it's why it's a nice place to visit. For sure there are disagreements (some of them action packed and scintillating), but the atmosphere here is generally very positive, and I've learned a lot since I started lurking here some weeks ago.

By the way Mike, any chance of replying to my questions about Paul Vunak on the JKD forum??? I'm dying to know more (well, not literally dying, luckily).

Besides, at your age (assuming all goes well) a year younger is closer to the 'other side' than a year older is.
