Default best style for a 18 yr old HS student

ok first of im not in HS anymore...im curently getin my GED...i live in northern houston, i will be workin full time soon and hopefully movin out ...im debatin on JKD or MMA im leanin twords MMA beacuse im so young im not gonna be in anything too serious(i hope) just the occasional party brawl or stupid fight at a concert/on the street... and i know it has rules and people say"thqat impares a real life situation" but i believe with adrenaline i can block out those rules and go for the vital spots to end a fight quickly...ut then again JKD is made for real life but im also looking to get in shape

First off...finish school. Secondly, apply to higher education...and thirdly...
go to a school that teaches both MMA and JKD. Why the hell not, eh?

In my opinion, muay thai is the best base art you can have for either one of these. So train both, but put extra effort into muay thai to develop your stand up game. Shit, I even heard Erik Paulson say that it's easier to make a striker into a grappler than vice versa. Plus it's more practical for bullshit scuffles you may get into...it's not enough to kill somebody like the FMA stuff you'd learn along with it...nor would it open you up to a stomping in a multiple attacker scenario like a grappling base would.

Muay thai is generally taught in MMA schools, and it is one of the arts taught by Inosanto JKD camp peoples...which is really the only way to go.

Find an Inosanto affilliate school. The rest should fall into place.

Take a couple of lessons in Verbal Judo.

Learning how to defend yourself starts with learning what you say in a situation. Party brawls usually start over something stupid. For example, bumping into someone by accident, fueled with alcohol/drugs and viola, a fight that escalates into a party brawl.

Learn to let that bullsh*t go. Apologize even if you’re not in the wrong. Trust me, when you least expect it, someone has a camera phone and videoed the part with you playing the starring role in an assault.

Now, in the event that you try to de-escalate the situation and there are witnesses that heard you say, “Yo man, I’m sorry” and the mutt doesn’t want to let it go, then I'd go with the JKD. A quick finger jab to the eyes (longest weapon to the nearest target) a knee to the family jewels and as Snagglepuss would say, "Exit, stage left."

Just my two cents. I'd give four but I'm still waiting for my raise.
