Bitch slapping 101? What's your point? ![]() You never knock someone on their butt with a open hand strike? Atemi is good.

Uhhh, <cough, cough>
I like Mr. Grover / McCaan. His SWAMP needs work but everything else is solid. Have you looked at Bas Rutten lately? YouTube - UFC Pride Best of Bas Rutten Look at those slaps! He puts them out with those sissy slaps! What is wrong with Grover's SWAMP? If you look at his vid, he can't even do it according to theory. Weapon first comes before 'plunge' which is the drop step / body weight transfer. No one I know can hit effectively with their hand and still have the step happen AFTER the hand starts. Hands are just too fast. I teach to start the step first, hold the hand back until the step and the hand can hit at the same time. So what if the step telegraphs you are entering; your hand can't move first or it hits with no power and then the power step happens! I don't remember where it is in this vid set but he steps first, and hits as the step lands in one place, then remembers swamp and corrects himself to start the hit and then step but in natural life, it just doesn't work. The rest of his stuff is totally butch, I like it a lot!!! ![]() Ted Street E & E: Evading, Escaping, and Other Ways to Save Your Ass When Things Get Ugly How many times have you heard someone say, or even said it yourself, “If someone gets nasty with me, I’ll just run away!” Animal’s writing style is witty, his attitude is sarcastic and he is above all, practical. A book review. How to Survive Random Gang Violence Some discussion and a bit of practice can be the difference between life and death or minor and major physical trauma.

i have to agree that jim grover / kelly mcCann is a fine instructor. everything he teaches works, and works well. he is not a trainer for civillians. He is well versed and his knowledge base is thorough. Open handed striking is a part of every real life combat system. You can never risk breaking a knuckle on someones head when you still have to draw your side arm. Mr grover's entire system of hand to hand fighting is based on getting to your weapon, not winning with your hands. Most arts teach using open hands to hard targets to avoid breaking hands, and closed fists to soft targets. This is why knife, half knife, palm heel, ridge hands etc. all exist. its good stuff, give it a chance.
