Hello, I'm new to these boards. My name is Evita and I train with The Chinese Martial Arts Center in Delaware (U.S). We've recently partnered up with Yee's Hung Ga (they're opening a school in Wilmington) and Sifu James Peterson has been teaching Shuai Chiao in our school once a week. I joined and I'm loving it because I like the way it ties in with my tai chi and kung fu training, unfortunately I'm the only female in the class.
Does anyone else here study Shuai Chiao? Or know anyone that does? I'm having a hard time finding any info on women in this art... |

Hey there VeggiMomi,
It's not a common art, so I'm not surprised you're having a hard time finding women who study it! For me, I study a very common art (BJJ), and it's still hard for me to find other women who train! Cakegirl

Hey VeggiMomi
Good for you for training in an art which not many people do! Kudos! Unfornatly I do not train in that--but Muay Thai--And i am one of the only females at my gym... (^0^)... It is always hard to find other females, btu I believe training with the men is one of the aspects which makes me better than other females (!). Also, we have each other on the message boards (or something like that) <3 Kick Box Blonde |

I'm in Middletown. Sifu James Peterson comes down once a week to teach at our school, but he'll be opening a Yee's Hung Ga school in Wilmington soon and will be teaching Shuai Jiao there. He's an excellent teacher
![]() This is my school's site (I'm working on Sifu James' site but it's under construction) http://www.dekungfu.com Here is Sifu James' bio http://www.yeeshungga.com/wilmington/ He will be teaching a Shuai Jiao seminar on April 14th (date may be wrong) in Wilmington. If you're interested I could get more info. We also have a few friends that have a San Shou school in Newport (but I'm not sure the location). It's run by Sifu Rob Pritchett, Sifu Greg Pritchett and Sifu Musa Ali. I know that Sifu Rob is a very talented fighter and has won competitions all over the world many times.

most women don't like the idea of close combat sport unless they can do it with a man they knw THAT IS Husband, brother, boy friend or a really good friend. The funny thing is if huge no. of women did join they wouldn't face that problem. Edit: did you mean u can't find women to spiral on same belt level as you ? then that changes everything. ! |

Chinese Wrestling (or Throw Horn) is one of the oldest arts in Shaolin Kung Fu.

it is unusual for women to get into wrestling be it bjj. japanese jujitsu wrestling . i think that at least as far as sd goes you have a huge advantage training with men...though it may be hard to break in at first....the boys club is even tough on boys
