What would you do if... (a kind of game) By tkdgirl - Sat, 02 Jun 2007 02:41:05 GMT
========= I've been trying to think of a new post for this area for a while, and one that would hopefully bring some attention... So, here it is. It's more like an exercise, opposed to a game really... This is what you do: (You don't have to be a woman to participate, but this should be geared more to women-i.e. situations). One person puts in a response for what they would do if found in a situation, and poses another situation for another poster to state what they would do, and so on... I'll start with situation #1, and whomever sees this, puts in their response, and put in "their" situation #2... I hope that makes sense... You're driving home fairly late at night from work, and notice that someone has been seemingly following you from where you started. What do you do? 1) Get into territory I know and drive around to make sure. If they ARE following me, call a friend and meet at a public place.
2)What would you do if you were grocery shopping, and notice a creepy guy watching and following you. (this happened to my mom) |

Sorry, I'm a guy, but here is my input....
1) Make sure that you and him are covered by CCTV (security cameras) Move into the more feminine side of the store - women's make up, confectionaries etc and see if he follows 2) What would you do if you are in your home and you see a face at the window? |

I'm a dude.
1. Send them on a wild goose chase - I got stalked many years ago and it came almost naturally. If they're following you, they are either trying to intimidate or stay close enough to find you. Take your time when driving and confirm that they are indeed following you. Some folks would drive themselves to the police station and honk their horn. Others would pull into a well lit area with few people and perhaps draw a weapon. 2. If someone's face was at the window - I'm sure I'd get chills up my spine, but grab the closest weapon, approach them slowly and get ready to use it. 3. What would you do if you had reason to believe someone was trying to damage your reputation through dissemination of misinformation or social engineering?

Ha ha, call me a coward, I don't care! And I know this is the second answer like this I've posted, but: if I saw a face at the window, I'd call a friend (preferably a large and intimidating one) and the police. I would then make a very loud show at my front door about talking to the police so that he knew I saw him and that the cops knew it too.
About the defamation....*sigh* I would have to trust that my friends knew me and wouldn't listen to that crap, that they would defend my name for me while I wasn't there, and I would just have to hope that my actions and character spoke for itself to everyone I met. Heh, I may also try harder to make sure I gave a good impression to acquaintances. |

What would you do if you're waiting for class to start at your dojang (a municipal parks department building, therefore open to the public) and a group of about 5 thuggish, street-gang types walked in and started challenging some of your students to "show me what yuh got". ?

if someone is trying to enter your home, you have the advantage. you know your home better than a stranger, and you should be able to navigate it in the dark easily, and know what good spots you can hide in. victimize him.

They used traditional martial arts (they were wing chunners) as they thought I would respond in kind. After I beat them they complained that I wasn't using wing chun and I told them that they had come down, threatened my students and wanted trouble, so they got it. It's probably not the route I should have taken, but there you go Quote:
I think it comes down to the individual and what their personalities are like. I know many instructors who date students, with mixed results. Just be aware that if it goes wrong it can make training awkward |

I chided the instructor afterwards for not handling the problem himself and he explained; "They might have swung at me just 'cause I'm wearing a gi, but I knew they wouldn't try to fight an old man and I know Nick is tough enough to handle people like that..."
