You know Suk I think it is, Most of the respect posts I have read here I sit here thinking "what this is really happening to you gals?" I hardly ever see anything like that and if we do ever see it in class it's quickly squashed by the skills of the higher ranking girls, if anyoe gets a bit big for his boots, it's trained out of him/her. As I think I said somewhere, NO ONE treats girls in our club as inferior or lucky to be there and one of our girls is the world champion for sparring, in fact I fought her in my last grading. I know Tez has problems but MMA over here is still mainly male dominated and the prejudice is still high level in that I believe. One of my friends is just beginning in MMA and I offered to do some reaction drill sparring with him, his answer was "no way I'd never hit a woman". I just said "what makes you think you'd get to hit me?". The thing is, his attitude surprised me as he was asking a guy who was a similar rank to me to spar him. I hope he got leathered because that guy wasn't as controlled as me. (Plus I usually beat him)

I can speak for the UK when I say that female martial artists are treated pretty much the same as male martial artists. Obviously there are differences between men and women - skeletal structure, upper body, genitalia etc which affects how people move. I find the difference interesting and try to train with men and women alike so it expands yoru training

In the USA I had a look at Tiger Schlumann over in Conneticutt and we were approached by a female practitioner who was going for her black belt. She seemed to be treated equally to the male practitioners. I think if anyone treats women in a sexist way (ie doesn't let them grade purely because they are a women etc) they should be named and shamed on the forums
