I need some female advice By TheOriginalName - Tue, 13 Nov 2007 02:46:51 GMT

=========

Hi all you wonderful women of the MA world,

I've been training in a form of karate since april this year and have been loving it. Naturally it's taken over my life and i tend to talk and talk and talk about it.......

The thing is my best mate has expressed that she would like to be able to do it but uses the excuse "but my cheast will get in the way".

Now as a bloke i can't really comment of this....yes, she is large of cheast (DD) and small on stature (only about 5'). she is what i would call a healthy size....not to big but not small either...in terms of weight.

So does she have a point?
Are there things she could do so she could partake??

I hope i've approached this respectfully.......as the last thing i want to do is get a MA-female offside....ahhhh

Thanks for your time

Either she's just making excuses because she really doesn't want to; or she's personally uncomfortable doing something like that because she Thinks her chest will be awkward. Physically though, she could easily participate in Karate. Grappling and stuff like that might make her uncomfortable, but Karate is fine. My best friend in High school was the one who got me into MA, and she was rather endowed herself.

Girls tend to make excuses - heaven knows why.

She will need some good support (maybe even 2...sigh, being blessed can be such a curse) but for most parts, it can be done if there is the will to do so.

besides, the exercises to strengthen the upper body help the twins stay in place

( I am a horrid speller so if anything is wrong I am sorry.) Being in the same boat as your friend although I am taller, I must agree with the previous poster. Support is crucial, and I don't mean the emotional variety. If she is unsure about jumping into a class, she may want to check out an all female self-defense course. Generally they are not given in a specfic decipline but this may help to pave the way for her into an art. Sometimes it can give the confidence needed to seek out continuing training. It's worked for us anyway.
