![]() | ========= Was talking with a (girl) friend of mine about rape prevention and the import of learning a good solid MA or SD which would help. Found this... thought I'd share it here... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | BJJ would increase a woman's comfort zone facing men in close quarters. Most women would be intimidated in this range, so by working on this and gradually getting her used to working different positions (guard, halfguard, cross-body, mount etc.) and how to transition between them, it would build her confidence. Facing resistance and perfecting her technique under pressure would be good too. Since women have proportionally stronger legs, working from the ground would be good as well. That's all I've got. Let the real experts speak. |

| Resident Groaner | I guess it would help to some degree, BJJ against an armed opponent is shit though. id imagine some rapists are armed. You also run the risk of enraging the rapist and making the ordeal worse. However i think it would be worth having. Having said all that......im really not sure there is much relevance in learning self defense for anyone in its literal sense. The chances of being attacked in your life are so remote as to not warrant wasting and time preparing for it. Train because you enjoy it, not to prevent a rape that has a 0.0000001% chance of ever happening.

| Resident Groaner | I would only ever train in a self defense orientated class for fun. there is really no point other than if you enjoy it.
