    That so true.
If I had my own organization, all MMA fighters would be required to wear:

    1. JKD/Kenpo Gloves: Or something very close to this design.
    2. Elbow/Knee Wraps: Reduces the chance of KO due to a cut.
    3. Groin Protector: That's a given.
    4. Thin Shin/Instep Protection: This is optional to the fighter.

probably. If I did MMA or trained people to participate in MMA, i'd have them very knoledgable of the elbow strike for knock out power and opening up cutts. It sucks to loose a fight over a cut. But if your going against a apponent that can't be knocked out, that would be one way to get a win. But , i'd say it would be a good idea to have the elbow's and knees padded. Everything you strike with should have a specific amount of padding over the area.

    Elbow / Knee Wraps?

    Thanks Scott!
I had a similar discussion with some other members in another forum, and they also mentioned that elbows and knees tend to do 70 - 80 % of cuts in matches. Do you think there should be elbow and knee wraps? I know most fighters hate to lose due to a cut.

    Design of MMA Gloves?

Does the current design of most MMA gloves have a very high risk factor for producing cuts? It seems like there's too little padding around the knuckles, the fingers are completely exposed, and some gloves barely cover the entire backside of your hand. I can understand if the gloves left the palm completely exposed for grapplers to have a proper hold, but anything else should be out of the question. So what would you do to improve it's design?

P.S. If it were up to me, I would use Kenpo sparring gloves as the foundation for the new design of the MMA gloves.
