    Woof All:

I had already planned to be in Memphis for Suarez International's "Warrior Talk Symposium" (registration full for many weeks now) and so it was easy to arrange an additional day for private instruction and this seminar.

I have always had a fondness for Tennessee since 1974 when I was clocked doing 83 (55 limit at the time) on my motorcycle on I-40 on my way to Mexico and the ticket was only $2. The officer told me I would have been in trouble if the radar gun had caught me above 85. Good thing I saw him in time to scrub it down from the 100 I was doing at the time , , , but I digress

Looking forward to it-- the Adventure continues!

Thank you for the input Guro Denny. And thank you for coming to the school to do this seminar. We are all excited that you are coming and can't wait. I have been helping my instructor with the planning of this seminar as well. If there is anything you need just let us know.

We are a small group here in Memphis studying FMA. But we are very dedicated to the art. I look forward to meeting you myself and hope to learn a lot.

Do you have any suggestions on any specific training to focus on in order to prepare for the material presented in the seminar? Is there anything we should work on in particular?

      Thank you,
      Vince

Well, now there's a slow fat one down the middle of the plate!

Since you ask and in that I have been requested to go into our "Kali Tudo" and "Los Triques", it certainly would not hurt if you were to purchase our DVDs on these subjects available at www.dogbrothers.com For those of you not familiar with these two areas of our system, please feel free to check out the clips on them.

Mostly though just come ready to have a good time.

          Guro Crafty,

Good suggestion on the dvds. I will be sure to ask Santa for the videos

I have read your article in the September issue of Black Belt Magazine. And you brought up some good points. I do like the idea of 360 degree awareness of technique in the cage that you would use on the street. Which would keep you from forming bad habits that would not be good in self defense situations. And I do think it would be good to see trapping in cagefighting events. Do you think trapping would be the next evolution in this type of event? Just wondering what youre thoughts were on that.

          thank you,
          Vince

            Woof Vince:

Although I am happy with the article as it appears in BB (indeed they gave it quite abit more space than normal) the original version as I wrote it appears at:

            http://dogbrothers.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=3954#3954

In it I make some points that did not survive the editing process at BB and then it is followed by some discussion which may be of interest.

May I suggest you take a look there first as a way of beginning our conversation here?

              Kali Tudo article

              Greetings Guro Crafty

I have just finished reading the full version of your article. And it does a good job of explaining things in greater detail. And thank you for letting out the information on Kali Tudo and sharing your ideas and methodologies with people willing to learn it. I do believe to truly test your best ideas is to share them with other people to see what actually happens. Plus I think it helps your fighting ability evolve. Where would we be if the Gracies decided not to teach anyone their style of jiujitsu?

I really liked the idea of fighting in unmatched leads. I think you did a good job illustrating those techniques in Black Belt.

I do have a question. At the end of the article you mentioned something about the unarmed techniques being the same as armed techniques in kali. I couldn't fully understand it. Were you saying that other people didn't think that would work and so you are in the process of testing out using unarmed techniques in the same way as armed techniques. And if so, how do you test them out? Are you doing empty hand vs empty hand , or empty hands vs weapon or both?

Also, how soon do you think we can see Kali Tudo , kali silat techniques in the ring? I think it would be great to see it accepted as part of the regular MMA training.

              regards,
              Vince

Sorry for the delay in my reply.

Sorry for my poor communication of the point. My intended subject was applying these skills EH vs. EH. How do you test them out? By hitting people who are trying to hit you

                2) "Also, how soon do you think we can see Kali Tudo , kali silat techniques in the ring? I think it would be great to see it accepted as part of the regular MMA training. "

We're looking for the right venue for the Jeff "the Angry Dwarf" Brown. King of the Cage (greater LA region) requires fighters to buy a fairly substantial number of tickets. Even at the wholesale price, it becomes a very pricey proposition. Jeff is from Ohio and has no local following to draw upon as a source of buyers for these tickets.

As for when, part of my purpose in the KT mission is to provoke people with these skills into giving it a go as well as to share certain portals into this dimension. For the right individuals, I am available as a trainer.

I'm looking forward to our time together in Memphis.

                Woof,
