It can take you three minutes to get a belt online, just go to http://www.masupply.com, order one, pay with your Visa, and it'll be there within a few weeks

The TAGB is the Taekwondo Association of Great Britain, a breakaway from the ITF group in the eighties run by Dave Oliver. from what I've seen they pretty much are an association primarily focussed on tournaments & semi contact sport fighting. I remember a few years ago they held a so called "world championship", but to enter you had to be a member of them if you were from the UK. I'm not sure sure how long their belt advancements take but I reackon they go along the ITF's guidelines of three years, but that is only a reccommendation for students who train at least twice a week. Seeing as most TAGB clubs I have seen locally only train once a week for an hour, I would be interested to see their standards required for black belt.

In my own association it will take you roughly 4-6 yrs to reach black belt training at least twice a week, but our syllabus includes a great deal of hapkido as well as extra patterns at black belt level due to our links to both the ITF & WTF.

                      My belts worth!!!

                      Medic,

I have figured two values for my belt...approx. $6.95 stock or maybe $12.00 with embroidery!

(PS...i dont even expect it to keep my dobok closed...its got tie string and/or velcro

                      TAEKWON!

The only thing that makes advancement too fast is if you don't understand or can't perform what you're learning. I've seen one gifted guy make black belt in a little over a year. He ate, slept and lived Oh Do Kwan for that time and he really understood what he was learning. The guy was like a sponge with the lessons and physically gifted. I know another who has been a brown belt for 5 years. She's the exact opposite. Me, I pissed my master off because I turned down testing and advancement for over a year because I was doing some exploring. It also bothered him because rank meant nothing to me, but what I was learning did. I also did him a diservice because I ended up knowing more than those who did advance but couldn't teach them because of my rank. Just my $00.02.

I think that it depends on how do you train, like if you get ur bb in a year, but you train 10hrs per week, it might be normal.

10 hours per week of classroom training is not that much.
