I resent and argue against that statement.
Many, if not all serious, muay thai boxers cross-train western boxing as an extension of their usual hand work.
In fact, several ex-muay thai champs have gone on to win titles in...boxing.

    My pointers are...fo u r 2 do ur roadwork...shadow box wit weights.....

and maintain a forward drive against your opponent, punch them until they drop.

TKD kicks will most likely not land on, much less drop any trained fighter.

I forgot to mention you'll be in a whole new world of hurt after they block one of your kicks with a shin block.

I was talking in general kickboxers are better boxers than MT guys. I myself do MT but it is true. If you cross-train then yes you will be better. There are kickboxers who cross-train in boxing as well. I was talking about pure MT and kickboxers. If both guys was to have a boxing mach then I bet money on the kickboxer. MT guy kick ass in kickboxing match any day.

Garland, tkd kicks won't work? lol.... buy some perspective, why don't you.

I suppose BJJexpertise is one of those MMA drones who loyally follow all octagon styles and bash everything else... how unfortunate

as somebody who has trained both styles and has taken both styles kicks...muay thai is superior in almost every single aspect, except for, arguebly aesthetic purposes. TKD is prettier...I'll give it that, but I'd gladly let a TKD guy land a foot on my head (and break their foot) while I land a shin kick anywhere else on his body.

Did I ever say Muay Thai wasn't better than TKD?

No... I did not think so. But that doesn't nullify TKD's effectiveness.

GABBAH: Thanks for the support and advice. Really appreciate it. But i'd like to correct a statement you made. You said Olympic guys have no power, but those guys go in their aggressively and fast, so they end up hitting each other quite hard. It just doesn't seem like it because of the chest gear.

Garland, a foot to the head? hehe I think you're taking it a bit too far... What if it lands somewhere on your jawline? Even a half decent kick can knock you out if it lands there...

And don't forget the fact that if I'm fighting someone... I'll be wearing shoes.

Shoes = multiplying the hurt factor of an instep kick.

You must have my post confused with somebody elses, I didn't mention Olympic guys nor comment on their power in punches. What do you mean?

Also, I really do hope you have been training with punches to the head if your going to enter a kickboxing match... if you haven't I'm sorry to say that your chances are decimated.
I ask this because not all TKD schools train with punches to the head in their sparring, or do they?

Oh and are you sure it's kickboxing then, since you said you'll be wearing shoes? Shoes are not allowed in kickboxing AFAIK. Only foot protection/padding. They lessen the damage if anything.

I don't believe punching to the face would make me lose. Kyokushin karate has no face punching. Those guys do just fine.

I have a hard time believing that... if you don't train with punches to the head you will have a hard time when they suddenly start raining towards your head at all angles.
If you think you will have no problem that is good, hope you do well. But have you tried sparring with punches to the head, with gloves on?
Sometimes I sparr with people who are not used to punches to the head, and I can play with them. This is because they have not gotten rid of the reflex that is build into us all, to close our eyes and tense the muscles in our face in order to protect the eyes.
If you aren't used to hard punches coming at your head this reflex will kick in, and in general there is nothing you can do about it.
So you are really brave to enter that competition if you haven't even trained with punches to the head... REALLY brave (perhaps too brave hehe).

Right you are! I am one of those kind of people. I forgot to ask how come you're posting this in the submission grappling section when there's a korean martial arts and a kickboxing section?
