If he was as dedicated as the stories say, he would go to Brazil and train with the Gracies, hook up with a wrestler, and a Judoka and learn take downs. Mix in a few rounds of sparring with a kick boxer and he would be a decent MMA fighter. If he went in cold without doing that? He gets taken down and submitted in less than 5 minutes by an average MMA guy.

I really like Bruce Lee. I still watch his movies. And thats a shame that he left us so early. However I think it would be hard for Lee to kik azz like ernesto hoost (atleast on a ring)

sure they were here...but did people care?....i don't think so...if it wasn't for lee...martial arts wouldn't be what it is today. sure there were all kinda of great martial artists...but they weren't well know...and no one cared either way. then burce came and everyone wanted to be like and look for ways to be better than him....which led to a spark in other really great martial artists that we have today....there were other marital arts...and other martial artists.....but bruce started it......he was the giant wave that rode thru....that's why i say that i guess

Could you explain?? MA arts, dojos, dojangs, kwoons well before bruce "arrived". Did Lee spark great interest in MA, yes. Was he influential, yes. But he was not the first to use what works and move on, though he was certainly the first that had the attention of the masses to voice it. He had a thirst for knowlege and the opportunity in the US to learn from masters in many disciplines. MA is big in the US, but it would be here regardless of Lee. Just as people fought before they heard of Helio Gracie. That is not taking from either MA, I have great respect for both. But you have to be realistic

it was his dedication that made him superior not the era he was born.
to me, he is the godfather of M.A.
    just my 2 cents.

Personally I think if Bruce Lee was still alive and in his prime and willing to fight in UFC he would lose against today's fighters. Martial Arts has changed in many ways since his death.

Perhaps if UFC had been around 30 yrs.ago he would have won while in his prime but he wouldn't even come close to winning today.

pls do not mention bruce lee in the same sentence as any of todays fighters, to do so would just be ignorant and very embarrassing.

There seems to be an element called human ego here that causes the greatest harm.
It causes us to want the last word that's empty anyway.

I don't think anyone likes it when you walk away from a little chiwawa dog and it only gets its courage when you turn your back and they start there shit barking up again.

Then when you turn back and charge them they run for cover until you turn your back again.

I've been on this BJJ forum since the mid 90's and have never seen such a back a forth "your wrong I'm right shit" go on this long.

So I will be the man here and turn my back on this ridiculous thread that should have died long ago and don't be a chiwawa on this ego invested thread and start up again? .....please

Talk technique, discuss tactic, workout method, but hypothetical "what if" have no final answer.

changing the subject now are we?

look im tired of figting too..it's getting us nowhere...as a martial artist i am supposed to have a certain honor. i have broken that honor and im sorry..i just don't like it when peeps critisize others when they have no clue...blind rage...not something a martial artist needs...im sorry
