    A new experience By Kami - 10-01-2011 01:25 AM

    =========

    Soooo....
    I have to share my story because I am a little excited.
    First off I don't post much because I spend most of my time training working or caring for my son. Anyway, women in martial arts totally rock. My hat goes off to each and every one of you for having the courage, dedication and drive it takes to be effective and successful.
    I am entering a different time in my life. I recently turned 30. I am getting in better shape and I have been practicing martial arts for about 6 months now. While I humbly accept I am total amateur I also experienced a feeling for the first time recently. I don't know how to describe it any other way than, buddy if you f with me I will hurt you.
    Being a petite framed girl with confidence issues I have always felt timid and shy and while the change is slow, it is happening. For the first time ever I went to a bar alone. I walked up to the bar to order a glass of wine. As I approach a man is smacking a woman's booty. She tells him to stop. Forcefully. He glances at me and I look away. He says, "What are you jealous? If you are lucky ill do it to you." And I said, "If you do it to me ill pop you." He tried. I blocked and shot straight for his jaw. I did not knock him out, but it was intentional. He coward away.
    Now, while I know I am not a bad ass by any means it still felt so good to not be afraid for once in my life.
    The school I practice at is totally awesome and they actually encourage us to avoid fighting in most cases. There have been plenty of times in my life where a guy has tested his limits and I have never been able to respond with anything other than being smarter. For all of the times I have struggled within my practice I have to say it has been worth it because I accomplished one of my main goals which is to have the confidence to defend myself. For that I have gratitude towards my teachers who have more heart than most and who are tough. They inspire me more than they know. Oh yeah and all the ladies (or lack of) who serve as an example to me. There is nothing hotter than a chick who can kick some serious ass and look hot while doing it (that last part was a joke). Cheers ladies! I hope one of you at least enjoy my small victory.
