I accept with information: to keep and sharpen. It is less show and more go. As you know, everything you learn is put into practice quickly - you get thrown into the deep end - pulled out, practice - then thrown into the deep end again

Traditional martial arts are more crawl, walk, run - such is the case with arts like judo, tangsoodo, traditional jiujitsu, arnis/escrima/kali. They are structured for more long-term persuit, mastery of technique with the opportunity to apply from time to time with spontaneous drills and sparring.
If you're not going to be a really competitive amateur or professional MMA, cross training in TMA can't be a bad thing. Don't forget to sharpen your MMA base though.

I was doing MMA previously and I liked it at the time. I started going to a training gym last year. However i recently got banned from driving so have decided to spend the rest of my ban term getting fit.
so I have got 8 months to prepare my body for the journy ahead.
But i do have some questions I need help with. I have no idea where to post them so il post here for now.
I have 28 inch legs. I recon that means I can kick about 5ft 5 if im lucky..Is that right and will that be a problem in MMA?
but to offset that I have a long body, most men of my size will have a body to leg ratio of 1 to 1. so their body would be 34 inches long..mine is 40..
now i suspect MMA will atract people with longer legs. So asuming an equel height their body will be even shorter.
so I have a body longer than most I will be fighting against..how do I use this to my advantage?to start with I will have longer lats and more trunk muscle..will this help me?
Or am I just making a mountain out of a mole hill.lol.
cheers all in advance.
What's your 400 meter run time? 1600 meter run time? 5K run time?
How much can you bench? deadlift? Squat?
How many pullups?
Trying to gauge your level of physical preparedness. That's what will kind of determine approximately how hard you might be able to hit, how long you can fight, whether you will be more reliant on speed or timing. etc
But that's just an athletic gauge. How prepaired are you mentally?
