Yes, he got dominated. Silva's staredown was so weak, he kept his distance and was shifting his head left and right. Silva comes out swinging for the ropes, then shoots a single on Mirko, who sprawls. Wand jumps guard. In a few moments the fight is stood up. And then moments later, CC knocks him down and Wand is in guard again. Silva's eye was swelling so badly the docters called timeout and almost stopped the fight. Again, Wand comes out aggressive, but CC keeps his distance, then in a few moments he lands a perfect, and i mean perfect Left high kick to Silva's head and actually knocks him out. This fight reminded me alot of Chuck/Babalu.

Honestly, Wanderlei would get knocked out by Chuck too. But doesnt matter, cause that fight will never happen. DW said it himself.

And IMO, i think CC could take Fedor now.

Oh, and Barnett basically subbed Big Nog.

Shogun stomps out Cyrille Diabate in the first round. Like i said was gonna happen.

Ricardo Arona submits Alistair Overeem with strikes from the back mount in the first round. Like i predicted.

Cro Cop defeates Josh Barnett via strikes at 5:32 of the first round. Barnett tapped out too. Cro Cop is the OWGP 2006 Champion.

So,

Josh wins by Decision. But, he had a fully locked in kneebar at the end. And Nog was limping after he walked away. 10 more seconds and Nog would have tapped or had his knee capsule snapped. Josh and Nog kept reversing dominant positions like half guard, sidemount, mount. The fight seemed so short though.

Oh, and h......Omaplata, you were wrong about Nog and Silva..And youll be wrong about Overeem too. Sorry you bet the house on those picks. Tough luck, thanks for playing.

At 1 AM, i will be watching it. And BTW, i cant believe this thread has gotten no buzz, i guess most of you guys like UFC better....

At the PRIDE press confrence, Barnett says, "This is a legendary quartett, but we're all caught up in the moment, so i guess we'll be legends after we're dead."
I just thought that was a pretty cool thing to say. This open weight grand prix is a truly historic event for mixed martial arts.

It's finally here... The biggest event for Mixed Martial Arts in quite some time. This weekend, the greatest Heavyweight fighters in the world will square off to determine who is the best... or second best actually. The final match up will be fought on the same night as the semi's, and there's several possibilities for the finals....

Semi Finals:

Wanderlei "The Axe-Murderer" Silva -Vs- Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic

Josh Barnett -Vs- Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira

Alternate HW match up:

Sergei Kharitonov -Vs- Aleksander Emelianenko

LHW match up:

Ricardo Arona -Vs- Alistair Overeem

Mauricio "Shogun" Rua -Vs- Cyrille Diabate

But who do you think will make it to the finals?

Most likely, its gonna be Cro Cop and Minotauro. Even though I'm a huge Silva fan, I dont see him finishing Mirko, unless the fights hits the floor. Silva always throws wide, powerful punches and a fighter like CC will punch him straight on and could possibly knock him down or out. I really want Silva to win though, i think he's the epitomy of a dangerous fighter. The dream outcome of this match for me will be..... The end of the first round is approaching, there's already been alot of action and close calls. Then, in a brief, wild exchange, Wanderlei Silva clips Mirko's face. Mirko is stunned, up against the ropes and Silva clinches with him and starts unleashing powerful knees to the dome of Cro Cop. Mirko is dropped, and the Axe-Murderer releases one too many futbol kicks to the face.

The Barnett/Nogueira fight will be great too but i see it going all two or three rounds, whereas the Silva/CC fight will not. IMO.

Kharitonov/Emelianenko... Awesome match up and i dont mind who wins.

As for Arona/Alistair, i hope Arona takes him down, passes his guard and submits him, hopefully.

Ofcoarse Shogun will win, hopefully with futbol kicks and stomps.
There's other fights on the card but i dont care too much about them.
